Hello ladies, long time lurker here with a question about cloth diapering two under 2.
So I have a ten month old and expecting another little one in October. Ive been using disposables and want to switch to cloth but Im not sure what I'll need for both of them seeing as their needs will be different. I was thinking of mostly using prefolds and one size covers to keep costs down and then one size pockets for the older one/overnight/travel so I could load them up with inserts. Would this work? Is there anything Im missing?
Another thing I just thought of: How many of everything would we need so we'd only need to do laundry every other day?
Re: What to have for two under 2?
I agree with PP that while OS covers will work for both eventually, you will need nb size for the little one before OS will fit.
We have basically a three size system that I think will work well for 2. We have nb covers and prefolds, and then move to a two size system- we use thirsties duo covers and assunta tiny and OS covers, and two sizes of prefolds: 7-15lb, and 15-30lb. With this system they will be in the same covers and prefolds when the baby is somewhere around 4-6 months, so they won't be in different sizes for too long.
The normal recommendations is to have 36 nb changes and 24 OS changes for one kid washing EOD. I plan on not really getting many more diapers, but probably washing more often.
@Chickypoo2468 Right now we dont really have a set changing area, we have little bins of diapers in the living room and bedroom with a change pad that we put down. So if the little one is napping, we'd just do the change in another room.
Are there any brands I should look into? Anything with snaps would be great as Im thinking of staying away from velcro/aplix as my daughter can already undo her diapers.
