Clothing for me

So I've been thinking about buying skirts and dresses for work, it's seems to be that sort of place, though slacks are perfectly fine.  Anyway, I was doing a search and found this website and found this dress, what do you guys think?  Like it, hate it, worth the price???  I do hate the fact that it's considered 1X, I am a size 14, but I never considered that to be in the 1X category.

Re: Clothing for me

  • It's super cute but it's too short for me, too, but I'm an old fogey so take take it with a gain of salt. LOL

Also, I can wear a 14 too and I once bought a 14 at a plus sized store and found that it was too big. The "plus 14" ran a lot bigger than a misses 14.

  • I put this on the Parenting Board too and it was a consensus there that it was too short and potentally bumpy in the wrong places.  :(  I have to face it, I need to start dressing my old fart age.
  • You're what...30?  :)

I like it but again, too short for work.

  • @prncebride...I would have never guessed!  Well I guess the few pictures I've seen you look so much younger than me and you're only 5 years older. What's your secret ;)

  • I actually think the skirt is a fine length as long as it doesn't hit your leg any higher than it does on the model and provided you wear flats with it. I like it!

I don't necessarily think it's the length but the fabric that makes it seem like it would be too fitted. You don't have to dress old to be work appropriate. I think wrap dresses are great for work. I love the wrap dress I bought from Banana Republic. They often have sales where you can take an extra 40% off which makes the price more reasonable.

You can also watch Ann Taylor's sales I have gotten dresses for 40-50 on sale and not everything is super dressy. You just have to watch for the sales when you can take an extra 60% off sale prices.

Ann Taylor Loft also has some nice dresses and skirts. Same thing watch the sales. I never buy anything full price.

  • I made a pact with the devil @excitedaunt2b, it's the same pact that Jennifer Connolly and Jared Leto made.  I'm trying to add an caveat for Sofia Vergara's body, but he's not having it.   >:)   =))
  • I second checking out Ann Taylor.  They have 30% off this weekend for Mother's Day (I love their clothes, but refuse to pay full price).  Maybe something like this with either a blouse (which if you tucked it in would give you a similar look to your picture above) or a twin set would be nice, and would even work in my super conservative office:
