1st Trimester

Spotting and bleeding?!

This is what's going on, on the 23 I went to the hospital cuz I thought I had the flu. They said your pregnant. Which put me at three weeks. The next week I went to the ob, they did blood said I'm not preg. Yet my last actual period was march 2-5. Then I had a "period" March 29-April 9. In which I spotted all those days except one, one that day I bled. Now, I have all symptoms of pregnancy(bloating, gas, indigestion, breasts hurt, nausea, smelling stuff differently, constipation, frequent urination) and I'm supposed to see my doc again Monday. I am a week late, and the past three days I spotted and now Im bleeding. Kinda like my last "period" so I don't know what's going on. I just feel lost, confused, and emotional. Has anyone else had any of these issues! What do I do?

  • Have you taken a pregnancy test?
This. And if you got a period then you can't be pregnant. It's normal to spot during pregnancy but not have a full period. It could have been a chemical pregnancy. I would take a test and see if it shows up positive or not.

  • I did a blood test at the ER, and had two blood tests done at the doctor. How does a chemical pregnancy happen? I was wondering maybe the ER test is capable of picking up a pregnancy earlier on than the doctors office.
  • Basically a chemical pregnancy is a VERY early miscarriage. So your body started producing HCG but you lost the baby before it could get very high. So by the time you went to the doctor all the HCG was out of your system...hence the negative test.
  • Ok, because I haven't had a full period yet, and I'm still getting nausea, constipation and tender breasts. I had a spontaneous miscarriage two years ago, so I was hoping this pregnancy would have worked out. Are chemical pregnancies common? Is it something I could have prevented?

So sorry you are going through this. Are you TTC? If I were you I would take a break for a few cycles, then start again. Chemical pregnancies are very common. It doesn't mean that anything is wrong with you, but you should talk to your doctor about everything.
  • Thank y'all for the advice. I went to the doctor today come to find out my pap came back abnormal with precancerous cells. They took more blood to check anything and everything, considering I still haven't had a period since March and I have all pregnancy symptoms. I get a sonogram Friday to check for pregnancy and any cysts that may be present. I then go to doctor Monday for a colposcopy to see if I need cervix scraped. So much going on.
