thrush

This is the worst pain I've ever had.  Thrush is no joke.  It hurts to feed DS and it hurts to pump.  Doing either brings me to tears.  I've done vinegar rinses and nystatin oral but is there anything else I can do to ease the pain?  I'm so worried I'm going to lose my supply over  this.

Re: thrush

  • Hang in there mama! I had thrush and it is awful!

Ask your doc for diflucan. It helps! And I also took half a pain killer left over from delivery. If you don't have any take ibuprofen.

Try to nurse and pump often. I felt like being overly full hurt worse.

I'm sorry you are dealing w this. It will get better!!
I hope to create a real siggy but first I need some sleep!

  • i feel your pain! i had thrush and mastitis together a few months ago and it was truly awful.

i would definitely go in to see your doctor. were you taking the oral nystatin drops that you are supposed to use in an infant's mouth? i agree with PP that you may need to get on diflucan in pill form. i took it for 10 days, but had to continue applying antifungal cream to my nipples for a few more weeks to totally kick the thrush.

take some advil and probiotics. try to eat lots of fermented/cultured foods and cut out as much sugar and refined carbs as you can. you may also need to treat your LO with the nystatin drops to make sure he's not passing it back to you.

    hang in there!
  • Thanks girls.  I did call and get a prescription for diflucan, so I'm hoping that will help.  I've also got the liquid nystatin for me to use on my nipples and in LO's mouth.  I'm going to try ibuprofen tomorrow and if that doesn't work, I may be begging my doc for a pain killer prescription as well.  I.am.miserable!
