This is my first post in this board. I have never cloth diapered before. I have done a lot of reading about CDing (too much!) and I may have fallen victim to my own eagerness and desire to be prepared for every outcome. I may have overbought. Here is what my 'stash' is:
- 2 Kissaluv two step covers with 9 inserts
- 5 fitted newborn Kissaluvs with 2 marvel covers
- 5 newborn AIO BumGenius
- 4 Bum Genius 4.0 w/ 6 doublers
- 6 perfect size AIO FuzziBunz (small) w/ 12 micro inserts
- 2 one size Fuzzin Bunz
- 12 newborn gDiapers w/ 6 packs of flushable liners
- 6 small gDaipers w/ 6 gcloths
- 2 Blueberry AIO
- 5 Applecheeks covers w/ 9 bamboo inserts and 2 bamboo doublers and disposable liners
- And of course one swim diaper
I figure that I probably have too much, but there are a couple of factors:
- I live on an very small island and I have only ever seen one place to get cloth diapers (and there were two diapers in total). So I have to ship 'em in.
- My husband is a giant and as my MIL keeps gleefully reminding me it is unlikely that I will have a single digit lbs baby. Whether that is true or not of course I have no idea at this point, but I don't want to order a load of newborn diapers that end up fitting for a week. So I tried to get a mix of newborn and smalls, my understanding is AIOs run larger.
I would appreciate your expert opinions. I have one last trip overseas before DDay and if there is something I need to remedy that is my main opportunity.
Thanks very much!!
Re: I may have gone overboard...
I went a little overboard and made 80 cloth wipes. You could easily get away with 40 or so depending on how often you wash.
Thanks for the input - much appreciated.
Am going to add some flats/prefolds and snappis - perhaps a dozen or so. I will check etsy for some cloth wipes. And I plan to add another large wet bag and a diaper bag wet bag, as I only have one of each right now. I am laundering everything with ecover liquid and Tide original powder.
Thanks again. I feel better and based on what you all said I can make some minor tweaks now to bolster what I have and then tweak once I have been doing it for a bit.
Thanks for the thoughts/encouragement on baby's size.
His family just seems to have this thing about size being a point of pride. Anything less than 10lbs will apparently be a disappointment. ummm what? I let hubby know what I thought about skewed priorities. 1) Healthy baby first, please. 2) Please don't make it seem like my labour process will be "less than" if this little guy is smaller. 3) I just want his dang diapers to fit.
