Eye teeth yet anyone?

I think one is starting to cut through. Poor DD, she is miserable. She has barely eaten in two days, except vanilla ice cream. I have heard these were the worst, and so far, that is definitely true. On the bright side, she has gone in the potty three more times this morning, so yay for that at least!

  • I have no idea what eye teeth are, please to explain.

Sorry, I think they are also called canines. The really sharp ones next to the four front top and bottom teeth.

DD is still working on her 1 year molars.  Slowest moving teeth ever.  She's been drooling all over the place and her hands are constantly in her mouth this week, so hopefully it won't be too much longer.

This is where we are too. She's trying to chew on everything!!

  • Her incisors are the only ones left. She's been drooling, chewing, and they've been red for weeks.

Molars were no picnic, but this is on a whole different level.

All our kids have had teething necklaces so the only way I have an idea that they are teething is they would eat less, become clingy to me and their poop was less firm (or the rare time DH forgot to put it back on after a bath and we'd have a crazy crying child until we figured it out!).  Instead of doing ice cream have you tried maybe vanilla yogurt?  Perhaps Greek yogurt for the protein?  I also do homemade buttermilk pancakes during this time because its a softer food and comfort food for my LOs.

JandACoffee- none of my kids' teeth came "in order" and I can remember my then 2 year old getting her first set of molars!  Nice thing about late teethers is our dentist always told us it was waste to bring them in for cleanings and we got to wait longer and therefore they were older and more comfortable going ;)

Yes, I have tried several types of yogurt and she won't touch it. She usually loves it, especially Greek. I have tried soft foods, and she won't eat those either, except for the ice cream. Trust me, it isn't my first choice, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. We went through the same thing twice when she was sick and it was the same story. I wanted to get her a teething necklace, but DH was convinced she would choke on it and wouldn't let me get it. I sooo wish we had it now!

Not to be a sales lady but not all teething necklace brands are the same. I can only speak for the brand we got, Inspired By Finn (the lighter colors have more potency vs multi colored). Their necklaces have safety features- for instance if too much pressure is applied it will open up but not necessarily break (happened to us). If it does break each bead is individually tied. And if they do eat one, it poops right out. Our kids got one at 5 months old and wore them until 2 year molars came in (@ 3 years old). I will probably be putting my 5 year old back on for his upcoming molars.

Another good think my kids like is those thin rubber spatulas. It really gets back there and very chewy.

I saw this and saved it for later. DDs have all come in pretty much according to the chart. No canines yet.

@JessAnnJ‌ , that is a good picture. I think Ainsley has been a month or so ahead on pretty much all of her teeth, but the order has been right. We were up most of the night and she still won't eat. I think I am buying an amber necklace today. Enough already!

I'm running back this morning to say after thinking about it- I didn't like my last reply AT ALL and wanted to apologize.  I think it comes across as though I'm pushing a necklace and that wasn't my intention at all!  There's misconceptions about them but like anything else in parenting you have to do what your comfortable with because that's the best choice for you!  Sorry again!

Don't worry, I didn't think you were pushing. No need to apologize. It is something I have wanted to get for awhile, but have not because my DH thinks it is a choking hazard. But, DD is miserable and nothing else is helping, so I am going to try it anyway. There is a store a few minutes away that carries them. I have researched them, and they seem to be the "right" kind. I know a few moms who have gotten them there and swear by them. I have had several people encourage me to rub whiskey on her gums, which I am not going to do. The necklace seems like the much better option!
  • I meant her canines! #-o

I bought a light colored non-polished amber necklace because of the advice from @*LrCg* I think it works.

@minervacullen‌ , that is exactly what I bought this morning. She is finally sleeping. I hope this helps her feel at least a little bit better!

  • My kid hasn't gotten a single tooth since Nov...I'm pretty sure she's decided to stick with the 6 she's got and call it a day, lol....she keeps showing signs we think are teething, but I think we just need to face the fact our kid likes to drool and chew on everything
    ;)

As an update, I do think the amber necklace is helping. Ainsley is actually eating scrambled eggs right now, which is the most substantive thing I've been able to get into her for days. Yay! She was much happier yesterday, although still wouldn't eat much. She did wake up a bunch last night, but at least she is eating and seems happy now. The tooth looks like it has made a little progress, but not much. We still have three of these awful things to go....ugh. On the bright side, I have a spa gift card to use, so I have a pedicure and a haircut scheduled for this morning. I cannot wait!
