I keep going over my calories and it's making me depressed and feeling guilty every night. I do well during the day. I measure food, workout(moderate) and started running again. The evening is my downfall. I suck at life.
I am set at 1440, but I usually end up around 1600. do you hit the done logging for the day button? I stopped hitting it a while ago because it was messing with my head, and as I was poking around the message boards I saw a lot of people never hit it. It doesn't take everything you do into consideration.
I also don't enter my exercise into it, and realize that exercise adds in the couple hundred calorie buffer.
AND....if I could change something about MFP, it would be that your totals turn red the moment you go 1 calorie over. It feels so judgemental.
I am not doing MFP, but I hear you with the night time snacking. It is my downfall, too. It's so hard not to veg out in front of my shows with a bunch of yummy snacks!
I need more filling meals or snacks. I'm not hardcore eating healthy yet, I'm just trying to pay attention to how much I eat right now. If I were to just strictly eat healthy, then that's an automatic fail for me. Baby steps.

Yes, I've always been a fan of a cheat day. When I was hardcore working out, Sunday was my day.
I gave up on MFP because it wanted me at 1200 a day and that was just not realistic. It also depressed when it would "yell" at me for going over. Fuck you stupid computer!
Do you/can you pre-plan? I do Weight Watchers and the only way I come close to staying on plan is to figure out my day in advance because then I have a specific goal to meet of only eating exactly what I know I've accounted for and if I have a higher than normal day because of what I know I'm going to eat, I can exercise more to make up for it BEFORE I eat it.
Meal planning helps me a lot, but I really learned to forgive myself if I have a bad day or a couple bad days. I am so much worse when I restrict myself too much. You're doing great!

There are a number of reasons I prefer WW to MFP, I'm just not willing to pay for it. I had great results with WW, mostly because I had cheat points and things like fruit and veggies weren't counted. Sure they have calories, but it's less about the number of calories than the quality of calories. At least for me.
I'm in your same boat struggling with this. I just went to bed last night because I was hungry and crabby. DH's hunger has started evening out after a few rough weeks, so I'm trying to stick with it for a little while. I do like the range idea. I may have to give that a go. Trying to lose weight sucks!!
When ever I start watching my food intake I'm hungry and crabby for about 2 weeks before my body gets used to it. It sucks.
And we all beat ourselves up over little things with food. Habits, especially with eating, take time to change; it's not going to happen over night. Just know you're doing what you want to feel more healthy and keep on keepin on!
