Bottle feeding 2?

I'm not a fan of propping bottles, but sometimes I do when both girls need to be fed at the same time. I just use rolled up blankets or burp rags to hold the bottle while the girls (8w, 3 adjusted) are propped in boppy pillows. Then I go between the two burping and adjusting. Is there a better way? This doesnt save time, only screaming, and someone usually ends up covered in spit up or dribble.

Has anyone tried Podee bottles? Also, What age can babies start holding a bottle?

Re: Bottle feeding 2?

  • I never really had luck with propping but I they do have some bottle proppers on amazon you might want to check out. My girls started to hold their bottles around 6 months I think but although they can hold them they don't feed themselves. They just play with the bottle turn it upside down and make a mess with them unfortunately.

  • I would love to hear how people bottle feed two also! I am going to look into bottle proppers on amazon. It is a struggle for me to feed both too.

  • I put my girls on a propped up pillow next to eachother and hold two bottles in one hand as they eat. I've also put them both in bouncy chairs and held a bottle in each hand.
  • I don't normally have to feed both at the same time but the few times I have to, I lay them in their RNPs and sit between them on the floor.  It's easier for me than putting them in the Boppys...that just hurts my back.

I would sometimes sit "criss cross applesauce" on the middle cushion of our couch with a baby propped up on each leg and that worked for me.

  • I would put one in a Boppy next to me and have one on my knee while my legs were crossed.  Or I'd sit on the floor between 2 bouncy seats.  I'd only prop for a little bit when I had to burp one or the other.  We also fed at the same time.  As they got older I did it in their high chairs too.

  • Propping works for us, but when they are both really awake we use our Twin Z pillow and I can hold both bottles when I am not taking a picture. I can actually pump at the same time, too.

  • I just use two boppy pillows, sit in front of them cross legged and hold both bottles. Not a big deal really. Then I just stop and burp.

  • We pretty much always feed both at the same time. Mine are now 13 weeks (9 adjusted) and we've tried the Podee bottles when they were around 5 weeks. They worked ok, but we're kind of a pain to use. A lot of parts to wash and at the time a ton of milk was spilling from the sides of their mouths. We found it a lot easier to just prop bottles with blankets and whatnot. Maybe the Podee bottle would work better now that they are more efficient eaters, but it's just easier to prop. Maybe you would like the Podee system, it's not that expensive and might be worth a try for you. Good luck!

Here's a pic of the twins using the Podees. Pretty funny.
