Looking for new obgyn at kaiser antioch/livermore

Hey ladies, I'm new to kaiser, and just moved to brentwood. TTC, not pregnant yet but need to pick a doc! Any recommendations? NP vs MD? There aren't too many docs that are accepting new patients. I haven't found any real tips online about kaiser antioch. I'm wiling to travel to livermore, but I am closest to the kaiser off sand creek. Also, is it true that a midwife delivers your baby? Seems like a disconnect that you would see one person your whole pregnancy and then labor with a stranger. I guess that's how kaiser does it. Appreciate any tips or advice!

Hi - I'm with Kaiser Oakland and from what I understand, you see your OB or midwife for all prenatal care, then when you go into labor, you get whoever happens to be on call that day. It seemed strange to me too, but they seem to put more focus on the relationship you have with your doctor during the pregnancy, which has turned out to be very helpful for me given some past complications and the million questions I have this time around.

Delivering with an MD vs. midwife all depends on which Kaiser hospital you go to. I believe Kaiser Oakland does not have any midwives available, but Walnut Creek does. So, if you have a preference, call around to the different facilities and see who they have on staff. I wish I could help with doctor recommendations. I can say that all the doctors I've seen with NorCal Kaiser have been excellent except for one, and I'm pretty sure that one was just having a really awful day. Good luck!

HI I currently have a OB with Kaiser Livermore and love her!  I just had my first baby in January in Antioch and yes I did not see my OB at that time, but did have a MW.  My MW was great.  I actually met her once at one of my prenatal appointments and she somehow remembered me.  I had a great experience throughout my pregnancy and delivery with Livermore and Antioch.  Most Kaiser facilities are like this, I know Walnut Creek is the same way.  Good luck and if you want any more info just let me know.  Happy to share and help.

I just joined kaiser moved from illinois to your same area. If I don't do home birth,I want to deliver in Antioch and have my obgyn in walnut creek, closer to where we are moving. Even in Illinois you basically get whomever is on call and you basically just have your delivery nurse. If I deliver in Antioch I hope to bring a doula to help me deliver naturally. Wasn't so easy doing it by myself with the first one

Hi guys, thanks for your replies....sorry I am just now getting back to you. Kaiser antioch is pretty new and nice, but no NICU....any problems, baby is ambulanced to Walnut Creek. Not sure why they don't have one, makes me anxious thinking about it! HLAckad, who is your MD?
