Guess who went in the potty twice tonight??

Yay!! We are very proud of her. I honestly didn't think she was anywhere near ready, but with #2 on the way, I figured we might start casually trying to get her to go on the potty. This child is borderline obsessed with Disney princesses and Tinkerbell, so I bought her a princess potty seat while we were out today. I put her on it and she looked confused for a minute, but then I told her she should pee in the potty like mommy does and she did it! Then she did it again before bed too. Woo hoo! Now, the challenge will be to get her to tell me when she has to go and for me to keep asking her. Beyond that, I really have no idea what I'm doing. Suggestions are welcome!

DD has been PT since she was 14 months (daytime, naps & bedtime). My 2 others were trained around the same time. If you look down below under a post "potty rec" people asked me how I did it & I explained. Honestly now is the PERFECT time to do it. Be proud that she released on the potty- that's the hard part, the rest will come in time! Congratulations!

  • Freaking amazing. You have inspired me to buy a potty!
    Me (25) DH (33) BFP #1 on cycle #4: 2/7/12 - M/C 2/26/12 BFP #2 on cycle #1: 4/3/12 - DD born 12/18/12
  • Yay that's so exciting! We got a potty too but LO likes to put his toys in it and then stand on them, so that isn't promising.
  • All of this potty talk has inspired me too - had one in my amazon cart for awhile and it dropped from $30 to $22 tonight... So I got it! DD tells us when she poops now, so maybe she'll figure that part out first.

Update on our progress...despite all of the teething problems we've had this week, she is doing great with the potty! She has hardly had a wet diaper since we started. She hasn't pooped on it yet, but that's ok. We will get there. I don't set a timer or anything, but I try to take her every half hour or 45 minutes. We clap, cheer and high five a lot when she goes. I have the kind of seat that sits on the actual toilet, so she gets to flush if she goes, which she loves. We are very proud of her and she is very proud of herself!
