I am miserable here and looking for some advice. I have been having intense lower back pain off and on (more on) for the past three days... Usually its paired with some BH Contractions but not always. The back pain feels like really bad AF cramps and they radiate around to my front during the contractions. It does not feel like regular sore muscles or achy bones.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so any advice on how I can alleviate some of the pain? It makes me nauseous its so bad sometimes =(
Re: Back pain...help!
Google back labor and see if you can find some descriptions. You might not have til the morning!
I have no idea what it feels like, it just sounds a lot like what my friend said. Not the same as a "sore back" but it hurt a lot. I know she didn't think she was having contractions or anything. Her baby was born about an hour after she showed up at the hospital. So she clearly had been in active labor.
She also has fast labors though - her second one was born about 20 minutes after she got there.
A few things I have tried to alleviate my pain has been taking a very warm bath. Somehow the relaxation of it helps my body but it was also recommended to me by my birthing class instructor.
If you can get a massage somewhere by a professional it should help but it also helps a little if your dh could give you a back massage once in awhile.
Sit on an exercise ball and even bounce on it once in awhile. I'm not sure what it is about it but the pressure is definitely taken off temporarily.
Use a heating pad or ice pack on the back. I often use a heating pad when I sleep because my back/hip hurts a lot during the night.
Hope one of these things will help you out. If you are truly experiencing back labor pains then I have no idea if anything will help.
how are you feeling? I'm wondering if you're at L&D having that baby!
If not, I just rememberd from our childbirth class - they had a method for easing back pain with labor... get on your hands and knees and have your DH put his hands on sort of the outside of your butt cheeks and squeeze togther. It sort of takes some strain off of your pelvis.
Nope Jill, I'm still here... dang it! I took a nice warm bath last night and then had dh apply some counter-pressure to my lower back and we decided if it was still happening this morning we were going to go to L&D. Today it feels much better though so we've just hung around the house and did some cleaning. I'm a little disappointed though, ever since you planted the L word in my head I was kind of excited!
Thanks for being up late last night though! =D
