Pregnant after IF

Need OB referrals in Central Jersey

Hi All,

I was released from my RE this past Friday and I called to make my 1st OB appointment yesterday.
I didn't get one until next Tuesday, but I may have to change it.  They told me they won't be doing an ultrasound on my first visit and that made me very uncomfortable.  I'm so used to getting blood-work and ultrasounds with my RE on a regular basis that I'm a bit filled with anxiety during this transition period.
I should mention, I'm in between 8 - 9 weeks pregnant with twins.

How often on average do you get an ultrasound during pregnancy?  How about with twins?
I made my appointment at Brunswick Hills OB/GYN, anyone have any feedback on them?

I'm sure I'll feel a little better after my 1st appointment and I'm thinking maybe I should call my RE and see if they can get me in for 1 more ultrasound while I deal with the transition anxiety.

Thanks in advance for your help ladies! xoxo

  • Did they ask for records from your RE? My OB did not do an ultrasound because I had some done with the RE. Most OBs don't see the need for them until around or after 12 weeks (NT scan) if you have been monitored before.

  • They did ask and I faxed everything over.  My 1st appointment is going to be a "transition" appointment where we'll go over all the medical records and then I'll meet with the OB for regular physical.  They said I'll get blood work done and paps smear.  Is it okay to even get a paps smear during pregnancy?
  • I'm sure I'll be fine,  just going through transition anxiety.  It does make me feel better knowing that it's pretty normal not to get ultrasounds every week lol.  Congrats to you! :)
  • Yes it's fine. You may spot after the Pap smear but it's normal. My OB was okay with me denying it since I had one done the year before and never had an abnormal result so if your not comfortable I would ask more questions. The first appointment is pretty boring. But on the positive it's nice to get treated like a regular pregnant lady as it means things are good!
  • I have used OBGYN of East Brunswick.  My mom and sister have gone there too.  We haven't used them for OB but I liked them for the GYN part.  I moved to far from the office now to use them but if I lived closer I wouldn't be opposed to using them.
