I squatted at walmart to look at the bottom shelf. Aaaand I got stuck. I bet watching me get up was really pretty. I'll take it over bending though, no time for bending. If the fallen item isn't important to me at that point in time, it can stay on the floor. Like the three pieces if popcorn under my desk at school! :)

  • I have no choice but to suck it up and bend. DS is 18 mos and still goes thru his " I only want mommy to carry me" moments. So I usually have to bend down for things with him. I have kept squats and lunges in my workouts purposely because of this.
  • I've been putting this bad boy to work for me so I don't have to bend over.  My kids are so nice to share.

Bending down is difficult...and getting out of bed is like a monumental task.  I told my husband someone needs to invent a giant spatula to just fling me out of bed in the mornings.  (I'm not sure why, but when I have to pee at 2am and I'm groggy I can get out of bed quickly and easily.  But after the alarm rings?  Nope, not happening without making every muscle involved in the process want to revolt.)

I've used my toes as well. I am getting quite good a flicking whatever is in my toes in the air and then catching it with my hands. Quite the sight. Sadly, that will come to an end soon as well...

Squatting sucks, but I count it as my exercise for the day.  I'm getting increasingly clumsy so I get a ton of squats in and it makes me feel accomplished.  I just get into a wide stance and drop it down low like a stripper or video vixen.  At least that's what I tell myself I look like.  And not a huge pregnant lady being awkward.

I second what ghost said - I'll squat 10x before I sit and bend over to tie my shoes.  Hellllllo flip flops and sperrys!

  • I had to sit on my butt on the floor and scoot around to clean the living room today.  Yesterday, I just left it for my husband, but the two year old TRASHED it today and I couldnt just leave it.  I feel like such a cow.  I dont know how Im gonna do this another two months!

  • I can get down just fine, it's getting back up that's a problem.
Slip on shoes are the only kind I can do and socks have mostly been abandoned.
If I drop food - we have pets for that. If I drop anything else - I have husband and child for that.
If I drop stuff out and about, I just look so pathetic that a passer-by normally stops to help.

I had a kind of half-bend-half-squat thing down and that worked up until a few days ago, now I get stuck trying to do that.
  • I work with kids so I have to bend a lot....It sucks but yoga every morning keeps me where I can semi  bend down at least.

  • Whenever I drop something I want to cry. My toenails are also getting annoyingly long and I am debating asking DH to clip them for me because I can't bear the thought of trying to bend and do it myself.

I asked my DH if he would paint my toenails. He said he'd pay for a pedicure :)

I showed this to DH a week or two ago and now he knows that anything on the floor is his problem.  Or, if I get it myself, he's got to be nearby to crane me back up.

  • I can still bend it just takes me a second (and normally somewhere to put my hand to help) to get back up. My real problem is ive turned into a complete butterfingers. I drop stuff constantly. Especially at work stuff just flies out of my hands.
  • I dropped my keys at work the other day and legit yelled out" Nooooo!"

My boss came out of his office asking what was wrong. When i said nothing i just dropped my keys, we both had a good chuckle.

I have made it clear that bending down ain't working so well and going from one end of the office (where my desk is) to get to the the front door at the other end of the office takes me longer then it used to.
