I'm trying to keep my mind off of my worries and stay optimistic about buying a new house. If we do move, I want to redo each of the kids' rooms to something more kid-like than baby-like. I'm thinking something that they can stick with until middle school. Where should I look for bedding, decor, etc.?
Maya is super princessy (yep, made up that word) and, while I'd like to avoid a million ruffles and flowers, I want to get something that she will like.
I can pretty much do anything for Ethan so I'm up for ideas.
What are the best sites? I checked PBK and Land of Nod but I don't see anything I really love.
I guess I'm looking for bedding that can be kind of versatile so that we could change out rugs, wall hangings or pillows and shift the room from little girl to older girl. I don't even know if I'm making any sense....
So, does someone have a time machine that I can use to go back to 5 minutes ago when I said that I saw nothing I really loved on Land of Nod, before I saw this expensive set:
I saw these curtains at Target the other day and thought "oh my God, these are so cute!"
They scream princess-y to me.
I don't generally do themes. I like to stick with a color scheme and that way art pieces can be changed out and updated as they get older.
Have you checked out Ikea? I think some of their textiles are super cute.
I have these as L's closet door. They are super cute and if you stay away from pink, not princess overkill.

When I was younger, (9, 10?) My mom had a friend who was an artist paint a life size fairy on my wall. I LOVED that thing. I used to talk to her and pretend she was my own fairy. Maybe paint, or have an artist friend paint a princess or something on her wall? Not a tv princess, but a "real" kind of princess?
Besides a wall painting, maybe focus on frilly bedding and pillows. Every princess needs like 1000 pillows....right? Oh..also..I had a canopy bed when I was younger, which def. made me feel like a princess. I think target sells the circular ones that you can hang over the head of the bed now...know what I mean?
Andplusalso, I lived in that house with the fairy on the wall until I was 18. I never disliked having a fairy, even at that age, because it wasn't done in a super childish way.
I had a really cool wood carved flamingo one in my room until DH moved in and begged me to remove it. He also called it a monstrosity....the idea of 12 miniature flamingos hanging in the corner of the room really bothered him.

For example this mobile can work for maya. It's not extreme "princessy" but pink enough...
