Ready for sleep training

We've been dealing with a bad sleeper from day one. It got better for awhile, down to two sometimes one feeding a night. But the last few weeks have been absolute torture. And last night? The worst. I'm on my way to work and I've been up since 2. So I'm asking you mamas for help with a course of action! Oh did I mention that from 8pm-2am he drank 22 ounces??!

I think the problem comes down to that he will only fall asleep with a bottle. So for those of you that are doing Ferber are you not giving bottles?

Last night was also the first night without MMSS because the room was over 80 degrees. DH broke down and finally and put him in it because we don't know what else to do. Without it he was rolling everywhere and playing with the crib slates.

Re: Ready for sleep training

  • If your baby is drinking 22 oz I'm not sure I would cut out bottles totally. IMO, he needs those ounces bc he's not getting them during the day , or it could be a growth spurt. That's A TON of food for 6 hrs no matter how you slice it. Are you doing 3 meals a day? I give LO fruit/ oatmeal close to bedtime and it helps her sleep longer as opposed to giving just a bottle before bed.
I didn't sleep train. Sometimes LO sttn other times she's up once but I have cut down her bottles from 6 oz to 3 oz when she wakes up so she compensates by drinking more during the day. Your LO might not drink as much during the day since he drank so much as night and then the cycle will repeat. I would start slowly with nighttime weaning since he's so used to those ounces. Good luck.

have you read this site? https://www.troublesometots.com/6-9-month-baby-sleep-guide/

also read her sleep training section.  I have found her website to be very helpful.

We were having a lot of trouble getting DD to eat more during the day.  She would eat a lot at night.  I finally weaned her of that by just continuously offering her less and less.  But read her tips, they might be helpful
