Trouble TTC

Hello everyone. .I'm a newbie and here is my story.

I'm 33..been not avoiding pregnancy for over a year now. I have had irregular cycles my whole adult life. And I just started talking to my doctor about it all. I am very new to all of this but my hubby and I want another child. He had a daughter from another relationship but we want to add another little sibling to the mix. I have had two ultra sounds and both showed that I have a thick uterian lining. PC has referred me to an ObGyn. Hoping to see her soon. I'm feeling a bit frustrated as I have no answers as of now for anything that is happening. PC said that my hormone levels were fine and that from the blood work she did she can see that I am still cycling hormonally. But I'm not having any sluffing of my lining. Anyone who has been down this road or has any advice I would be much obliged.

  • Welcome

I would suggest getting a referral for a reproductive endocrinologist. OBGYNs are not the best doctors for infertility.

Also, if you could add a child mentioned warning to your thread title, that would be great- this is the only safe haven away from kids for some of the ladies here, and we try to keep the mention of kids to a minimum, and always make warning when we do.

As for the thick lining- that's something I can speak to directly. You'll probably have an endometrial biopsy to check your lining for abnormal changes. Pending those results, they'll either put you on synthetic progesterone short-term to force bleeding, or long-term to shrink your lining.

It doesn't make sense that they think you're ovulating regularly but you have an absence of a period. That's physiologically impossible- if you ovulate, you WILL have a period if you're not pregnant. If you're not having a period, it means you're not ovulating, or you have a longer than average cycle.

For now, I would recommend signing up for fertility friend and tracking your basal body temperature until you can get in to see a specialist.
All of this. Well put, naria! And welcome, OP! :) I hope your stay is short and sweet.

  • Welcome! I would also suggest seeing and RE and not an obgyn. I have my first appt tomorrow because my obgyn really wasn't able to do anything to help me this far. Good luck!

    Me (30) DH (31) Married 5/13, TTC since 2/13
BFP #1 Blighted Ovum resulting in D&C on 11/1/13
BFP #2 Ectopic Pg, lap surgery on 3/12/14, R tube removed

BFP # 3, EDD 2/21/15 * please be our rainbow*
  • I also agree with @NariaDreaming‌ if you're not getting af, you're definitely not "cycling normally" I hope that you will move quickly to an re who can provide with more info. Welcome and good luck!
  • I didn't mean any insensitivity with the mentioning of our DD. And thank you for the advice. I am going to see an ob as soon as I can get in. I'm not sure what it all means and I'm trying to keep my spirits up until I know something definate. I know that there is something off with my body and would like someone to give me some answers.
  • Welcome and Good luck. I'm also going to recommend an RE and not an OB. Also, I highly recommend the book "Taking Charge of your Fertility" it helped me a lot to learn about my body and tracking my cycle. This book along with fertility friend is a wealth of knowledge.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • Thanks ladies. .i have heard about this book from about three different sources now. I will definitely look into it. I'm will also look into an RE. I really need to get to the bottom of all of this...need to know what's going on in my body. If i ever have a chance at being successful
  • Welcome! Sorry that you have had to find yourself here but there is lots of knowledge and support here that I hope you will find useful :) I agree with all the ladies when they suggest going to and RE. I tried to get started with my IF stuff with an OB and all it did was cause frustration and little to no information. Best of luck!

Trying to have baby #1 since April 2013

DH SA March,May 2014 - Low motility and shape issues. On vitamins per RE to help

Me testing April 3, 2014 - FSH and LH good, HSG showed blocked right tube

April 29, 2014 - First RE appt., right tube needs to be removed and possibly left also if

it's bad too. RE suggests going straight to IVF

June 4, 2014 - LAP/HSC and unexpected endo. removed but tubes got to stay!

June 13, 2014 - Post-Op appointment. We decide where to go next since main issue

is MFI influenced. Trying naturally until decision... Repeat SA  in September. Aiming for IUI #1 November 2014.

    What is fertility friend?
A program that most women on this board use to track their cycles. It also includes a "class" (just through their website) that will teach you about your cycle and how to track it. Incredibly helpful and very easy once you get started.
