Are my names that weird?

We've shared the top 4 names with people and aside from Luke, we keep getting "you guys like such weird names"
So are Noel, Pierce and Brent that weird?

To me, not at all. But I guess I can see why some people would say that. But, really, they aren't out there at all! I guess maybe just everyone is not familiar with them?

We should have learned...We got so many Graham cracker jokes before Graeme was born! People are even finding ways to make fun of Luke, I can't think of a more Vanilla name (for my taste anyways).

I had a friend who told everyone that she was giving her daughter a unique name. The kid's name is Emma Isabelle. Point being, plenty of people base their ideas about common names on tiny, idiosyncratic samples that are 30 years out of date.

The beauty of all your name is that they are uncommon without being youneek. I LOVE your taste in names. Did you struggle this much with the other boys? I had chosen Owen for DS#2 until I kept hearing it everywhere and them we sort of just picked Pierce out of thin air. FWIW- I have never regretted his name.

No, we knew we were having a Graeme since the day we found out he was a boy. Rhys and Jude I'd say took a couple weeks. I think part of the trouble is I feel pigeon holed by the whole one syllable thing even though it wasn't intentional with the other 3. (And technically Graeme isn't one syllable but everyone pronounces it as such.)

Isn't he Piers Morgan? (I know it's pronounced the same though)

I like Pierce but I think of Brosnan.

Piers Morgan (/PEERZ/), not Pierce. Different names, although related.

Even if it's spelled different, it's never sounded different when people say it. ::shrug::

What I want to know is what these people (who think your names are weird) consider 'normal names'. I would never side eye any of those names, they are all nice names.

No! They are awesome normal names! There is are a couple of Lukes, one Brent and one Pierce among my DD's friends and Noel is a cool name, I've always been a fan of the band Oasis where the guy's name is Noel.
