I was told to get over the counter eyedrops from my eye dr. to help with what I am guessing is seasonal allergies(Never had them until more recently). The eye drops only say to use twice a day and although they help I still have eye irritation and redness. I can live with it but wondering if any of you take anything that helps. I wonder if I should just stick it out or if they safe stuff is really safe.
You can use lubricating artificial tear drops to help with irritation. Oral allergy meds don't help much with ocular allergy symptoms (I'm an ophthalmologist, btw)
I just use regular tear drops for lubrication in between the allergy drops. My eyes dry out really fast when I am at work and staring at a computer for lengths of time.

I've had some major eye allergy issues the last few weeks. I had eye surgery less than a year ago, so I can't take just anything and had to get everything okayed by my optometrist. Currently I am taking zaditor drops twice a day and they are working wonders. If I have a bad issue with them during the day, I flush my eyes out with thera tears, which are a lubricating drop. I literally just flood each eye with like 5-8 drops and just lay there for 5 minutes. Other than that, make sure you are washing all around your eyes well (I use a special eye lid wash from the eye doctor), and whatever you do, don't rub or scratch because that only makes it worst.
I'm allergic to my dogs and have seasonal allergies and my doc approved this (green package at CVS near benadryl) it says to take one every 6 hours, but I'm ok with 1/day. Works great! A few sneezes here and there but drastically different from when I wasn't taking anything!

I used the Zaditor too. I think it helped but not drastically. I started to find that sometimes regular saline drops helped too. It could of also been that the pollen, etc. wasn't as bad when I used them.
