Which is more effective: Webster technique or acupuncture?

Hi everyone,

I'm 34 weeks, and my son is transverse. He has been both breech and head down in the past month, so I know he knows how to turn himself into the correct position. He just seems to be super comfy now in this transverse position. My next doctor's appointment is in 2 weeks, and if he hasn't turned, we will discuss scheduling the ECV. I would like to try all other methods prior to that. I've checked spinningbabies and am doing those exercises, but I wondered if any of you have had experiences with either the Webster technique or acupuncture. If so, which do you feel was more effective? Thanks in advance!

The Webster technique helps to align everything to the most ideal position to help baby turn (and stay) head down.  You'd want to have regular chiro visits between now and baby to have the best chance.  That's personally what I'd try first.  You still have time!

This is purely anecdotal, but my son was breech and I did all the spinning babies exercises plus the Webster technique. He stayed breech and I had a c/s. My daughter was breech and I did all the spinning babies exercises plus acupuncture. She flipped head down and i was able to have my VBAC. So for me personally, acupuncture was more effective.

This is of course completely biased because I got this from my girlfriend who is an acupuncturist but she does lots of fertility work and pregnancy work including flipping of breech babies in Denver. She said that her success rate with acupuncture is about 85%. So for whatever that is worth. Totally agree with ncbelle though, whatever you choose to do (and is there a problem with doing both?), you want to start ASAP because it will take time and a series of treatments so the earlier you start the more likely it will work before having to go back to OB.
