Blood test and PCOS....?

Hello. DH and I are doing our basic test for the RE. He told me he was going to test me for PCOS. I have many symptoms related to it my question is which test levels would confirm if I indeed have pcos. My total testosteron level came back at 80 and I read normal is 70 but I'd imagine there'd be more... And one with pcos stories/advice? Kinda scared. Thanks.

Also, with your blood tests they'd be looking at more than just your testosterone. Testosterone,Prolactin,
TSH, Adrenal gland hormones, and
Gluclose tolerance and insulin levels.

I had an Ovarian Cyst that burst, I was admitted to the hospital with what appeared to be appendicitis. After much testing they found my ovaries had a few small cysts, I had high testosterone levels, and high insulin levels, too frequent of periods (which is less common then absent ones). My doctor said my body was fighting me when I told her I had been trying to lose weight and was TTC. I have been working on it for a year. Hopefully I make some progress in my blood work next month

I never knew how they dx pcos I had a high prolactin recently (a repeat was fine) and I was just worried. Thank you.

I was just diagnosed last september, I have no menstruation for over a year and insulin resistance. So far we dont know about cysts I have never been checked for that. To check all I had to do was the metabolic test with the crazy sugar drink and sit for 3 hours, because I do have insulin resistance it was horrible and I couldnt function for a few hours. Its just better to finally know whats wrong even if it isnt under control yet.

Another blood marker they can look at to diagnose PCOS is the LH/FSH ratio.  If it is greater than 2:1 early in your cycle it could indicate PCOS.

Diagnosis is clear via ultrasound.  (It is not a diagnosis by elimination.)
