Pregnant after IF

15 weeks & possible flu - UPDATE

So DH was up all last night with a terrible cough that hit kind of suddenly. He had chills & fever. He went to doc yesterday and they told him "flu-like symptoms" and gave him tons of meds in case it is flu. He is still pretty rough. I was up last night with him (& because it seems LO does not share my love of Chinese). Tonight I've stayed away from DH but it seems too little too late. I've developed raspy cough, stuffed nose, aches & chills. No fever yet (I took Tylenol as a preventative measure). I am terrified to read what will happen to LO if it is flu. Has anyone else ever dealt with this? I am making visit to urgent care tomorrow but its keeping me up now :(

Update:
We went to Urgent Care 1st thing. DH had to drive I was in too much pain from the aches to focus. I have an upper respitory infection. Doc put me on Tylenol regiment, amoxicillin, and basic robitissan cough syrup. Doc assured me LO would be safe.
Me: 33 - PCOS & Hypothyroidism DH: 35 - SA is good Married since 2010 (together since 2006) TTC since June 2009 (we knew we would have issues and wanted family right away after we got married). No pregnancies yet. May 2013 - started first round of Chlomid & ovidrel cycle.

Re: 15 weeks & possible flu - UPDATE

  • I had the flu in 1st tri and my RE said it was ok to take the Tamiflu prescribed to me by the urgent care dr. Especially since you're in 2nd tri your LO should be just fine. :)

  • I didn't have the flu but I was pretty much sick the whole winter with this pregnancy and it sucked but LO is fine. I just kept checking my temp and took Tylenol like you are and it was fine. Stay hydrated and rest. I hope you guys feel better soon!
  • Thank you! That's a huge comfort.

  • did DH's doc actually test for flu?  the flu season is drawing to a close now so hopefully it's just a cold virus.   often times medical people prescribe tamiflu "just in case" - but it only really works if given within 48 hr of symptom onset... and all it really does is lessen the severity of symptoms and will just naturally run its course

if you do think you have flu though i would seek the doc sooner to get a test/tamiflu if needed if within the 48 hr window symptom onset

i hope you feel better!!!!! and sending you and your LO happy thoughts

They told him flu-like and gave him meds just in case. His symptoms started Thursday late afternoon and he got in to see doc next day. Luckily within 48 hour window.
