Clomid and Ovidrel

I am almost to the end of taking my clomid and my doctor has told me she thinks it would be to our advantage to add the trigger shot to the mix. I am having a few mixed feelings but I would would really love to have another baby. I am now taking 100mg of clomid on days 5-9. Is there anyone out there has used both Clomid and Ovidrel together? And did it result in a BFP? Also, did it give you multiples? TIA

What did your RE say your odds of twins or higher order multiples was with that combo and the number of follies you have?

Everyone here has had a BFP for a multiples pregnancy, some spontaneous some not. If you want an accurate sample you need to ask a group that also includes moms who have singletons.

  • The Ovidrel doesn't do anything, but force the release of the egg and make the timing of sex/IUI better.  It does nothing else to help get you pregnant.  So I would definitely get the trigger shot.  If you're going to get multiples, it will be from the Clomid, not the Ovidrel.

Clomid + Ovidrel alone did not get me pregnant.

  • I agree with PP that you're going to get skewed results here. We used ovidrel and clomid to get pregnant along with an iui. I had an ultrasound before taking the trigger shot. The dr saw 2 follicles and warned that I had a 10% chance of twins because of that. We chose to go on with the iui and trigger shot.

  • We used clomid 50 mg and ovidrel along with an iui and ended up with twins. If I remember correctly, there were 3 mature follicles. When we signed on to take clomid, we had to sign a form that said we knew the risks of multiples were increased. The ovidrel trigger shot does just that, triggers the release of the egg (or eggs) at a certain time (36 hours, I think?) and as PP have said, takes the guesswork out of the timing.
