The pronunciation no-Elle is all girl to me. I think Noel (Nole) is an awesome name for a boy. If you are hell bent on it I was suggest leaving the spelling alone and correct people on how you want it pronounced.
I always think Noel for a boy is pronounced "Nole" and Noel for a girl is pronounced, and often spelled , "Noelle." And I'd actually have to disagree with PP. Noel is a classic, masculine name.
Noel is pronounced no-Elle in Spanish, so I have no problem with it for a boy. My friend's (male) cousin is Noel pronounced that way and I don't think he's had an issue with it. It's not like naming a girl Maxwell or a boy Jessica. It is a legitimate boy's name and pronunciation.
Please don't try to call your son Noel and pronounce it Noelle. That is a girl's name. Either name him Noel and pronounce it right, or choose a different name.
"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasured day you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart...let me hold you while I may."
And it makes me cringe as someone who wants their son to not be confused with a girl if I use Noel

I prefer the Nole pronunciation, but I knew a guy on college that spelled it Noel and pronounced it like Noelle. I remember not being sure if he was a guy or girl though bc he was a tour guide and the first time I met him he had a winter hat on and the tour coat with his name embroidered. When people said "No-Elle", I kept looking at him thinking "guy or girl?" . Not that it mattered, but he was a very petite guy with delicate features and with that pronunciation it was a head scratcher for me.... Until I later saw him again and he had a nearly shaved head.

Noel (Nole) is the boy name, Noelle (No-ell) is the girl name. Sorry. It is what it is. If you want to give your son a girl's name, that's fine - but it's still traditionally a girl's name.

This please.

I agree that it's a legitimate name and pronunciation for a male in other countries, but I agree it will cause confusion and lots of corrections needed if you're living in the US.
I think it depends on where you live. I live in an area with a large Hispanic population and have never even heard of the Nole pronunciation for Noel. It is always pronounced like Noelle, boy or girl.
