April 2014 Moms

A few of my favorite things...

Since most babies are here, what have been your favorite products to use/have?

I've got two!
First, we were gifted these blankets and they are AMAZING.  They are super lightweight for the summer, but they are big and perfect for swaddling too.  I've liked them more than any of the other blankets we've gotten, and have been washing them a bunch to keep them in use.

Second, this.  I'm not going to go into details, but this is refreshing for all those post-birth issues...  Those few seconds of spraying were a highlight of many bathroom trips.

Share away!  I want to know what I'm missing out on!

Re: A few of my favorite things...

  • 1. Nipple butter
    2. Sleep sacks
    3. Sleep sheep
    4. Oxycodone
  • Loading the player...
  • My Avent formula dispenser. It makes middle of the night feedings and packing the diaper bag so much easier!
  • The RnP...why didn't I have this for DS! We just got our ergo yesterday and I tested it out...love it!
  • Boppy, Boobs, A&A blankets, Snuggabunny swing and even though she refused to sleep in it for 48 hours, she's back to sleeping in it and I love the fact it rocks; the RNP.

his swing, blankets (all over the house), and footed PJs...  He lives in footed PJs because our house stays so chilly.  The onesies I received as gifts are adorable, but nothing is as easy for us as the button down footed PJs.

ETA:  My mom, but you can't buy that kind of awesome ;)
  • Rock n play
    Baby shusher

  • A&A blankets, miracle blankets, sound machine, activity mat, a super nice stroller, Ergo, beer and my nanny.

  • The rock n play! Saved my sanity and I get better sleep. In my mind it's the safest thing for her to be in.

Desitin diaper rash cream. I have NO idea why Bordeaux's Butt Paste is so popular. My mom used Desitin on us and now I'm passing it down. It clears up red bottoms in a day. So many needlessly suffering babies :( (I'm sure it works great for some, but I thought it was awfully subpar)

Boppy. Breastfeeding without it is so hard on my posture.

White noise app on my phone. I didn't think I'd ever use it, just because, but I held it up to Miss Fussy Pants's ear yesterday and she totally relaxed.

Huge fan of Desitin as well.

What white noise app do you have?

Love my white noise app as well!! Just wish I could still use my phone when it's on lol

ETA also love my halo sleep sack and our activity mat. LO loves to be flat and unfortunately doesn't like her swing yet :( she's a curious one and loves to look around

Fisher-Price glowing seahorse. It was DD's comfort thing and travelled everywhere with us for over a yr.

We still travel with it, she'll be 3 in July. It is contained to sleep space.

    A+A blankets
    RNP
    And this nightlight from Target:

Edit to add: The My Brest Friend nursing pillow. Someone gave it to me when I was still pregnant and I thought it looked bulky, annoying, and pointless. I use it every day now and love it. Ha.
  • Swing -it's the only place she is ever content besides in my or DH's arms.

Mombo and boppy -they save my back during nursing.

Tommee Tippee pacifiers, nipple cream, and comfy nursing bras -because I'd have given up breastfeeding weeks ago without them.

Baby carrier - or we would have no clean laundry or dishes ever, and I'd probably have starved to death by now. (The swing only works for a little while, and only sometimes.)
  • Soothies. I got them at my shower and thought I'd never use them. Then I realized she wanted to suck ALL THE TIME and DH couldn't sooth her for me when I needed a nap, so out they came. Life saver!

Also I was so determined not to fill my apartment with swings or bouncy chairs or saucers, but then I was absolutely desperate for one a week in so we went and bought a nice fisher price swing. Love it.
  • MAMAROO, A+A bamboo swaddles, Bun maternity nursing tank (I need like 2 more- don't need a cover with it!)

  • @fourthnlast‌ it's just called "White Noise" and has a pink logo - it was the first one that came up when I typed "white noise app" into the app store lol

    Lol. Thanks!

  • The Boppy! I knew it would be helpful but we use it for everything! LO is peacefully sleeping in it right next to me on the couch as I type. She loves to be propped up in it when she is awake and look around. I plop her in the middle of it on my lap when I am pumping and she still feels like she is being held. Oh, and for it's intended purpose, feeding :-)
Snugapuppy bouncer is a god send too! She will sleep in there comfortably for hours or just hang out when she is awake so I can possibly get a meal in.

Breast friend pillow - I like it better than using boppy

    Motherlove nipple cream

    Swing

Edit: also, a nursing nightgown I got from a brand called "Japanese weekend". Expensive for a nightgown, but a friend recommended and I live in it. Super comfortable material and good support for the ladies.

  • A&A blankets, love the bamboo ones.

    Rnp has been a lifesaver.

The sleep sheep is amazing! For all the LOs who love white noise, you've gotta get one. Calms him down and helps him sleep while letting me have my phone!

    And this nightlight from Target:

We have the dump truck night light from target and love it . Very convenient for checking on baby in the night and bright enough to not turn on an actual light

    I'm loving :
Mamaroo - my only regret is we don't have two as I have to haul it up to our room at night and back down in the morning . It works when nothing else does
Sudocream - works way better than Penaten and isn't so messy you need a bath to remove
Mittens - my guy is obsessed with his hands and would scratch his face to shreds if I let him
"Grass" bottle dryer - super cute and I use it constantly

  • A&A swaddle blankets, my double electric breast pump (my nursing days would not have made it through the week without it), double video monitor so I can keep tabs on both kids, and playtex drop in bottles (she eats so often it makes the first few weeks easier with fewer bottle parts to clean)

I love the A+A bamboo blankets- I use them for so much, including wearing as shirts for around the house, the fabric doesn't irritate my nipples and isn't restricting!

I also love the mamaroo, my freestyle pump, hands free pumping bra, the kiinde breast feeding system, kind food products, and Carter's long sleeve newborn onesies with the gloves and the belle core post parting girdles I have been wearing.

  • Bassinet! We had planned on putting our LO in his crib from the start, but my coworkers bought us a bassinet saying we will be thankful to have one... And I can now say I can't imagine not having the bassinet. It is a lifesaver having him in our bedroom. :)
