  • @gsancho 3 pounds is great!  You are a lot smaller than me so 3 pounds i'm sure was much harder to lose than my 6.  I wish I was a runner, i'm getting there.

@packerfan4life‌ awesome job on the running, I'm trying so hard to get to 2 1/2 miles without stopping. I'm just not there yet.

@hope2bmom83‌ and @gsancho‌ congrats on the weight loss.

So far I'm down 4lbs in almost 2 months. Not much but one of those months I was on a medicated cycle and they normally make me gain weight. I've gained 20lbs in the last year thanks to surgery on my head, 4 pregnancies and 3 medicated cycles and a lot of bed rest so I'm trying really hard to jump start my metabolism. I've been going to the gym 5 days a week running 2 miles and walking 1 at a incline and doing weights. I'm not big on dieting so I'm just trying to eat less and eating more vegetables.

I'm starting on bc tomorrow for 3 weeks before I start stimming for IVF so I'm hoping to get another 4lbs or more down in the next 3 weeks.

My biggest weakness is a good hamburger with lots of mayo and French fries. I've been grilling burgers at home for my fix using lean beef and sandwich rounds instead of buns. I've also been baking these tater rounds that are so good.

My hobbies are DIY projects and gardening.
    Fucking bump!!!!

    Hi All,
I took a bit of a break from the boards in general but we are official off our break! I posted awhile back but like everyone I am here to get healthy but ultimately my RE wants to me get my weight down for IVF.
    1.  What is your weight loss/get healthy goal? 15lbs. down in the month of April. I am hoping for 10 more for the month of May. Looking at the big picture is a bit daunting but I need to lose about 100lbs. I think a loss of 30 would make my RE really happy!
    2. What method are you using to help reach your goal? Low carb, high lean protein, cut out everything that was processed, making water my main beverage! Also, my DH is 100% committed with me so its really helping to keep both of us accountable. We are hoping that with his weight loss this month that it could start helping his MFI.
    3.  What is your biggest weakness that you just can't resist?Anything crunchy, I am a very savory munchie person and I miss everything salty and crunchy.
QTOW: What is your favorite hobby? I love any DIY project! Anything for the house or a present for someone, I love being able to personalize it and make it special for someone!

    ~*~*~ ALL ARE WELCOME & GREATLY APPRECIATED~*~*~

    TTC since October 2012

Went to OBGYN in August 2013-Referred us to UCONN RE in September 2013

Me (31):  Blood / Ultrasound / HSG / SIS- All Great  -  DH (32): SA is very low

DH met with Urologist nothing is "wrong" just very low count and low mobility

RE 1st Consult October 31, 2013 - Male Infertility Dx.

RE Appointment on 1/15/14-Decided on 1st IUI

    IUI Cycle #1-Clomid 50mg 2/14-BFN

We decided to take a break for 3/14-4/14

    IUI Cycle #2-Clomid 50 mg 5/9-BFN

IUI Cycle #3-(RE Office called us in for a back to back IUI for another SA) 5/12-BFN

*Husband's count is still very low post wash however after 4+ months on supplements, vitamins, and a healthy lifestyle (aka no beer)  his mobility has doubled! I am very happy for him, small victories!

May 2014-RE wants us to progress to IVF as 3 failed IUI's.

IVF Seminar meeting on 6/12 & then meeting with RE on 7/9 to come up with our plan for our miracle baby!

  • I am doing well, I lost 3lbs this week. I am busy at work havent had time to work out. I have cut out the bread and pasta and dessert. Its been hard but I have noticed a big difference. I used to be nauseous almost everytime I ate. I thought it was my meds but since eating healthier I hardly ever feel sick which is fabulous. I read that PCOS usually comes with an intolerance of Gluten (not an allergy) so maybe this is the best thing for me!

  • Hey ladies!

I've posted before, but never kept up with it. I'm going to try to make this thread my regular jam :)
    1.  What is your biggest weakness that you just can't resist? Carbs! Potatoes and Pizza mostly. It's what I crave when I'm stressed out.
    2.  What is your weight loss/get healthy goal? I would like to lose 130 lbs. But I'd settle for 100. I'm down 27.8 pounds since January 1st
    3.  What method are you using to help reach your goal? Basically modified Atkins diet, to include only real food. I'm not much into the artificial sweeteners and other crap in the diet. It's pretty limiting, but I do have weekly "cheat" days. It works for me, and makes it easier to embrace the lifestyle change knowing that I can have pizza, just not today.
QTOW: What is your favorite hobby? That's a tough one. I love watching pretty much anything that appears on Masterpiece Claissics--British Period Pieces. I also love reading, and enjoy just being outside on beautiful days. DH and I also have a mean mini golf battle on.

  • Hello! I would love to join in! Check-ins are always so helpful!

    1) I am trying to keep numbers out of my head, but I am about 110 lbs from my goal. I have lost 30 lbs since mid January.

    2) I have done a lot of dieting in the past with varying degrees of success. My mom had me in Weight Watchers in elementary school and it's been a yo-yo cycle ever since. (Yay PCOS *eyeroll*) Right now I am just trying to focus on eating healthy and minimizing my sugar and carb intake. My main focus right now is working out and just becoming a more active person over-all. I am working my way through Couch to 5K and am doing lots of weight training. (In addition to swimming and yoga)

    3) I feel like I have lots of weaknesses! haha. I love wine and cheese. I have a hard time saying no to chocolate and baked goods. I could survive most days on Cheez-its and stovetop popcorn with lots of butter. And much to my chagrin, I recently discovered the amazing-ness that is Salted Carmel Gelato. Everything in moderation, right?

Hobbies? I really love to read and spoil my puppy. ;) I also love to cook and really love to test out new healthy recipes!

Congratulations to everyone on their successes this week!

I'm new to this thread, so I will 'intro'.
    1.  What is your weight loss/get healthy goal? I'm currently 140lbs. I want to get back to 120. I would honestly settle for 125 or 127 at this point.
    2.  What method are you using to help reach your goal? I'm going gluten free and trying to stick to an organic, mostly whole food diet (just a few processed foods, as long as they are organic).
    3.  What is your biggest weakness that you just can't resist? ALL THE JUNK!
QTOW: What is your favorite hobby? Currently? Writing. Of course, I'm writing a novel with the intent to publish, so I don't know at what point this is no longer just a hobby. FWIW, I really enjoy it still. Having some writer's block this week, though. Grr.

ETA: I'm 5'4", so that should tell you that my BMI is borderline on overweight. My clothes say I definitely need to lose at least ten pounds.

  • So I have a question.... all of you runners, how did you get into it?  I can do 45 minutes on the Elliptical with no problems, but when it comes to the treadmill or being outside I can barely run for 60 seconds straight.  I don't know if it is because I'm still over 200 pounds or what, but I really struggle with running.  I want to run a 5K ( I have no time frame, just want to do it) but making myself run from one mailbox to the next is a struggle.  Any tips?
    Ba hahahaha!

I'm very interested in this, too. I can handle the gasping for breath, increased heart rate, and red face. I can't handle not being able to walk because my feet hurt so much the next day. I've tried all kinds of cross training shoes. I have wide feet and non-existent arches.

  • I am well over 200 lbs and have been using Couch 2 5K and it is amazing what I have been able to accomplish. It has definitely been a struggle, but is so rewarding when I am able to complete a day. I am also running REALLY slow! haha.. :) I would highly recommend downloading a Couch 2 5K app on your phone. It really helps!

Bad week. My surgery recovery has taken longer than I thought, so exercise has been minimal, and I have been stress-eating while worrying about our test results and my HSG today.

Hopefully with all the positive news we got today, this week will be better.

I also want to chime in on how great Couch to 5K is for us......"running-challenged" ladies. It's the only running program I have managed to maintain for a good length of time,

I do have that app, I have had it for years.  I always get discouraged after the first day.  Maybe I will try it today and see if I can do better today.  Thanks for the suggestion!!
@autumnray I so feel your pain.  We all have those days.  You have two options, stay strong, or let yourself have one day and get back on it tomorrrow.... orrrrrrr you could do both, stay strong but give yourself one treat.  Just eat it really slowly so it will last longer!

  • I would like to join this group if its okay! I don't have much weight to lose, but I eat so unhealty and have put on some weight w/ all this medicine. I'm petite, so it doesn't sound like a lot, but its very noticable. Plus I used to be a runner and want to get back into it because I've lost all my motivation.

    1. What is your weight loss/get healthy goal? I'd like to lose 10 lbs and get toned back up
    2. What method are you using to help reach your goal? need to eat healthier and exercise, want to try low carb after breakfast.
    3. What is your biggest weakness that you just can't resist? CHOCOLATE anything & donuts.

@hope2bmom83 & @modernfairytale8709 I ran my first marathon last year. Before that I could barely run 2 miles w/ out stopping. I do have some tips because I truley think anyone can do it. 1) Like a PP said, you need to get good shoes. There are stores that watch you walk/job and put you in a shoe that is perfect for your foot. Everyone's different, you can't just buy a shoe on sale. Def. learned my lesson. 2) Start w/ a distance, like 1 mile. Go that distance no matter if you run or walk part of it. Don't increase until you can jog the whole thing, then add distance. Running a 12 min. mile pace is fantastic. Who cares, you're doing it. 3) Run 3 days a week. Two of the days should be your shorter jogs and then on Saturday/Sunday do the "long" run for the week. The couch to 5k I've heard is an awesome plan to follow too 5) Give it two weeks. Stay dedicated and I promise it is amazing how you will notice how much better you are.

Now I need to listen to my own advice lol. I swear the hardest part is getting dressed & walking out the door.

  • Thanks @MissEm15 that's helpful information.

I did some checking around online, and finally settled on this pair, after reading multiple reviews:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0087RICZS/ref=oh_details_o00_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I got the boring black color, because they were the only color on sale in my size. Boo. But I'll take it if it means I can get fantastic shoes at a discounted price.

Because I'm a nerd, I also bought the socks to go with them. I've found lately that I've been getting blisters from my feet sliding around inside my shoes, and that my socks were really too thin to use for extended workouts.

@hope2bmom83 I'll be your workout motivation buddy! I feel like we're in similar situations, with me being slightly further from my weight loss goal than you are.

@packerfan4life - YAY! I was starting to worry there were no other Buffy fans on the board. Which is just too depressing to contemplate, quite honestly.
Buffy is the bomb!! Have you binge-watched it on Netflix? Because you haven't lived until you've done that. I <3 Spike :)
That was a joke, right? Of course I have! I watched all of it in about a week or so, and then forced DH to watch it as well. And he also LOVED it. I mostly can't believe I missed out on watching it back when it was actually on TV.....so sad.

    And Spike....just.....there are no words......

  • Hi I'm new...here are my weight lose goals...i want to lose 80+lbs. .depending on how I feel at that point and then continue...I have lost 5.5lb in the last two weeks as a combination of walking more and eating less. Although yesterday all I wanted to do was eat! But I didn't. I'm hoping to continue losing weight. I have the c25k app and need to start using it again. Good luck to everyone!

    Hi Girls,

I've been a lurker and finally am posting here, so I'm new!

    So here's my "intro"

    1.  What is your weight loss/get healthy goal? I'm currently 211lbs. I want to get back to 140. I would honestly settle for 160 at this point...
    2.  What method are you using to help reach your goal? I'm going grain free as much as possible, staying organic, mostly vegetarian & have started to work out again.
    3.  What is your biggest weakness that you just can't resist? I'm inconsistent & when I get depressed I can binge at times, I also find it hard to stick to a meal regimen and actually eat. This makes my body go into starvation mode and wham and I'm putting on the Lbs again!
    4. I also need to be a Kidney donor in a paired exchange program so that my husband can get a much needed kidney from a matching donor. While losing the weight would help my fertility, its an requirement that I need to meet to be a Kidney donor!

QTOW: What is your favorite hobby? Photography! I shoot with a Nikon D7100 & am loving it right now!

P.S: I've attached the pictures of my boys, my only kids at his time!

    :D

DH :  36, has Chronic Kidney Disease, on dialysis & is waiting on the transplant list (average wait for B+ is 5 years)

Me:   36, Hypothyroidism, PCOS, BMI 32, need to be done with "child bearing" ASAP so that I can be a Kidney donor (was fun realizing we didn't as much time as we thought :-/ )

    We're TTC#1

    IUI #1 : 5mcg Letrozole (CD 3-7) + Ovidrel Trigger + Had the one follicle = BFN  (March 2014)

IUI #2 : 5mcg Letrozole (CD 3-7) + 150 iu Bravelle on CD9 (after much begging!) + Had the one follicle = BFN (April 2014)

7th May 2014 - changed REs, this one seems to care (we think....)

    IUI #3 : 7mcg Letrozole (CD 3- 7) + 75 iu Bravelle (CD 8-12) + CD12 Scan 5/16 + Had 3 follicles (2 under 15mm) = BFN(May 2014)

    IUI #4 : 7mcg Letrozole (CD 3- 7) + 75 iu Bravelle (CD 8-12) + CD12 Scan 5/16 + Had 1 follicle + DH gave best sample so far = BFN(June 2014)

IVF#1 -  ER Only Cycle Sept-Oct 2014, 17  eggs Retrieved, 14 mature, 10 fertilized, 6 made it to Blast & post PGS  5 were not viable due to chromosomal abnormalities
Not sure where we go from here...

We're parents to two very adorable, bratty, affectionate & goofy Bernese Mountain Dog pups who would very much like a 2 legged baby brother or sister of their own!

  • Goodluck @bluesmiley78 & welcome to the thread!  :-*
