Trouble TTC

BFN at 12dpo

Part of me really believed that this cycle was different.  Not so much.

BFN, temp drop, and spotting today at 12dpo.

We also found out that we'll have to do 6 months of Clomid before our insurance will cover IVF.  So unless they give us a pass, or unless my next HSG shows a blocked remaining tube, we'll be riding out the next 6 months on Clomid.

  • Im sorry for your bfn. I would happily do 6 months of clomid if my insurance paid any part of IVF. I agree with "taking" the clomid like calindi suggested.

  • So sorry about your BFN :(  IF sucks!  I agree with PPs who have said that 6 months on Clomid seems excessive, but I would also kill to get any sort of IF coverage at all so I'd "take" the Clomid too.  I'm sure it's totally frustrating to not be able to choose your course of treatments though!

  • Sorry about your BFN :( I'm surprised they're making you do 6 months of Clomid... Like other posters said, just "take" the Clomid and wait it out.  Stupid insurance companies...
  • Horrible!  I would never take six months of Clomid.  My RE says she doesn't even feel comfortable doing more than three months with anyone.  I felt awful on the one Clomid cyce I did and experienced the worst AF after it.  If I were you, I wouldn't do more than 3 cycles on it, and really, I don't know how anyone does three and keeps their head on straight.  :(  Sorry for the BFN and FX for you.
  • Thanks, ladies.  They actually, upon further review, require six cycles of ovulation induction.  I'm hopeful that they would be okay with three cycles of Clomid and three of Femara.  Same idea, different med.  We also were able to submit my medical records to have them review and see if all six cycles are necessary, or if, given the history of a removed tube and extensive pelvic adhesions, we could skip straight to the good stuff.  My last AMH was 0.31, which just adds to my panic... but they don't accept AMH as diagnostic.  They feel it's still "experimental" and "non-diagnostic."

I certainly shouldn't complain about insurance, though.  We're blessed to have it.  We actually had just figured out how we could afford a shared risk plan somewhere when DH got a new job that has amazing infertility benefits.  So really, I am counting my lucky stars to have the coverage.

Thanks for the support.  It means so much.
