I am a boy shorts enthusiast, so I am used to full-butt coverage, but it was definitely a switch to wearing the big old undies that came up to my tits--my husband made fun of me on just about a daily basis, but I did not care!
There are plenty of women who still wear thongs and such--for me it was a matter of wanting to round out my b-belly--for those who are plus size but still rock the D-belly, I wouldn't say that the granny panties are a must. They sure are comfy either way though.
TWO Babies in 2014! DS #1 Born 01/07/2014, DS #2 Born 12/17/2014
Happy to see all this! I had been busting it at the gym right before I found out. So I had taken a few lbs off before this starts. My RE and OB had really made me feel like my weight was the death of anything baby related. I'm a 16 on a good day. I have been so paranoid about this pregnancy bc of my chub. This makes me feel better!

This pisses me off so much (eta, pissed that your doctor said that, not that you shared it, hehe). Yes, weight can be an issue--being over a certain BMI presents slightly higher risks for certain pregnancy complications. But it's hardly a death sentence--and at a size 16? Pshhh. I'm fully four sizes bigger than you and I had zero issues. No doctor should make you feel like it's a death-knell, and if they are you should think about switching to one that is more size-friendly. I don't mind matter-of-factness about weight--my OB advised me to try not and gain more than 15 pounds and told me that my weight was a concern, but also told me I absolutely could have a normal healthy pregnancy--and I did!

I think every plus-sized girl has this fear, but there are really a lot of clothing options out there (too many with horizontal stripes) and they are so much more comfortable than regular clothes! And I agree with @MissMeegs on its nice to not feel like you have to suck it in. The tiny girls are going to be annoyed in just a few months with everyone telling them they look so big and asking if they're having twins, so body worries will plague us all before we are done.
Since I had a baby just 6 months ago, I'm currently just hoping that people are assuming my belly is growing because I'm naturally heavyset, and not that my stretched out, post baby abs are horribly concealing a second child! Not sure how long I'll be able to keep #2 a secret as I'm definitely showing at 9 weeks.
Your body will look pregnant soon enough! Keep active, or get active. Through my last pregnancy, I ate pretty much the same as I did pre- pregnancy (ok I did have apple pie like twice a week), and I lost a couple pounds by the end. I'm a size 20 and here's a photo series of me last time at 4, 5, 6.5 and 8 months. (I had a boy so he sat like a basketball)
Super happy to see this convo! I'd lost about 100lbs and had literally just hit my lowest adult weight ever when I got the news. I'm trying to keep the cravings in check, but I had been so successful by limiting the processed foods and carbs. Jokes on me, nothing looks as icky to me at the moment as my usual chicken on salad. I'm worried that my body didn't have a half a second to settle at that weight, and I'm just ballooning. I know a lot is water at the moment, but the uptick in icecream isn't helping either. I'm doing my best to stay active, but after killing it on my hike/jog this morning ALL that sounded good was a sourdough roll and fruit.
I'm almost hoping for a talking to from my MW at this point, although I won't even meet her until June 2...
Here's hoping there's a limit to the damage I can do in a month.
I was about 60 lbs over my goal weight when I got my BFP. A lot, but nothing compared to the 100 lbs that I was about 2 years ago. I had actually gotten myself down to a size 14, and I'm so annoyed, because with the bloat right now, even though I've only gained like 3 lbs, I've gained almost a full 2 pants sizes. I'm seriously considering breaking out the lounging pants already.
I actually got some hand-me-down scrubs today at work from the daughter of a resident. My coworker set them aside for me because they're huge and will probably fit me just fine when I start bumping out.

When I started fertility 2 years ago, I was 270 lbs, and I lost 75 of it to get to my college weight. I'm worried that decreasing my exercise intensity will make me gain a ridiculous amount. I'd love to say I'm being careful with what I'm eating but I'm hungry every couple of hours. I'm trying to keep it to fruit and salads and better choices but I don't want to lose all the hard work. Of course, with 2 previous MCs, I'm being extremely careful with my fitness routine, because PGAL brain is the devil. I just measured 6w2d at my ultrasound today (I'm 7w1d past my lmp but I don't ovulate on time) but my DD chest has already expanded and is causing major upper back discomfort at work!!! I think the back pain is what I'm most concerned about. I don't want to not work, and weight lifting has always kept my back healthy. Ahhhhh!! I'm so excited to be pregnant but all this plus sized stuff is scary!!
