Self destructive baby

On mobile, keeping this short. Ds has recently started beating his head on the walls when he gets frustrated. He does it hard enough to make knots on his head. He has also started making himself throw up. He laughs afterwards and keeps doing it.
Just a phase or worrying behavior? Any tips to make him stop?

Re: Self destructive baby

  • Yup exactly what @WhoCanItBeNow‌ said. My DS1 did both of these things for a while...

  • Yes...phase... my DS went through a similar phase as well (with the hitting his head on things, etc)... he didn't make himself throw up but he would put his fingers in his throat and gag, which I had a hard time not reacting to 'cause it always made me freak out.

But I found that it was a reaction that he wanted, so if I reacted he did it more.  Tried my best to ignore and not react when he did things like this and he eventually toned it down.

  • J does this, but luckily his favorite spot is the couch so he doesn't hurt himself. My ped told me it's expected at thus age as they continue to explore their bodies and discover their heads.
