36 week induction

Any other MOM's induced at 36 weeks?  Are you willing to share your story or at least reassure me?  I did not expect to get this news at my appointment today.  My pregnancy has been super boring, which has been a blessing certainly.  Both girls are looking good on us and during their stress test.  Both are head down.  My OB is concerned that baby A (us/growth scan 4 lbs. 9 oz.) is not keeping up in growth with baby B (5 lbs 2 oz.).  I measured 40 weeks today, but haven't gained weight in the past two weeks.  I completely trust my OB.  I am just....well...shocked that it is happening tomorrow.  I keep wondering...is Pitocin as bad as I have heard?

Re: 36 week induction

  • I was induced with a singleton with pitocin and didn't get any pain meds and I don't recommended that. At all. It was horrible. Are you planning on an epidural?

  • I was induced with my singleton at 38w1d, I got an epidural but due to an emergency csection I was already at about 7cm and in really active labor.  My labor really wasn't bad at all though, uncomfortable more than painful and the second I had the epidural it was a breeze.

  • I was induced with my one of my singleton pregnancies and I didn't have issues with the Pitocin.  It was more the position of DS.  He was sunny side up and caused bad back labor other than that.  However I only had to push 2 times to get him our.

  • @4legsRbest - I am open to any options for pain medications at this point.  If my labor had started naturally, then I was going to try and go med-free.  Thank you everyone for sharing!

  • I know that you trust your doctor. I would though question the why for induction since they are both head down and not big nor small.
  • Are they mono twins? One pound off doesn't seem like that much to me. 36 weeks is better than 35 but it would be awesome if you could make it to 37!

My boys were di/di and exactly two pounds apart at birth. I had to be induced at 38w because A had a ton of fluid and both boys were measuring big for my first delivery (8lbs and 7lbs 1 oz). Pitocin did what it was supposed to that's for sure. I had to get an epi and ended up with a c sec because A got stuck and B turned breech after we popped A's sac (there was that much fluid). I wouldn't change what happened though. By 2 w PP I feel fantastic and only remember my c sec when I sneeze or cough.
