Parenting after a Loss

working moms with babies in daycare...

Our first day is Monday...gah!  I'm so not looking forward to it.

What do I need to bring for her?

My list includes:

2 outfits

diapers

wipes

diaper rash cream

gripe water

I'm going to bring 2 - 4-5 oz bottles of BM and feed her at lunch.  Should I bring more than that?   Can I bring extra for them to put in a freezer?  I tried calling today but they were closed.

Re: working moms with babies in daycare...

  • I dont have DD in daycare but your list sounds good! Maybe some baby sunscreen in case they take her outdors? not sure if thwey would have that on hand.
  • DS goes to an in-home daycare. ?so all my answers are based on that!

?i dont BF so i'm not sure if i can help with that. ?we just take a can of formula and she lets us know when she needs more. ?we also gave her 3 bottles to just keep at her house. ?he eats (usually) 3 bottles of about 6-7oz each day

she provides wipes and diaper cream. ?i take her a pkg of diapers and she lets me know when he is low.

DS is a super-spitter so he has 5 onesies and 2 outfits + 3 or 4 bibs. ?when he wears a new outfit home i take her a new one the next day. ?same for onesies. ?she washes/keeps the bibs. ?he also has 2 binkies that stay there.

he has his own saline/nose sucker in a baggie with his name. ?he also has his own tylenol labeled with his name. ??

    ?

GL. ?i wont lie. ?it is SUPER hard the first few days but i swear it gets a little easier. ?you get into a groove and it just becomes your new normal. ?hugs!?

  • I think your list looks great.  I would probably bring more milk than I thought necessary just to be safe.  Most daycares will have a fridge or a freezer there for you.  It's better to be overstocked instead of understocked.

Good luck Monday, the first week or so is rough, but it gets so much easier.  Hang in there.

  • I used to work in a licensed accredited preschool and we could not give any medicine (not even over the counter) without a doctor's prescription.  I would check when you drop her off just to make sure you don't need something in writing for the Gripe Water.

I would def. bring extra milk they should have a way to keep it for you, just make sure it is well labeled.

Good luck it will get easier.

  • Our first day is Monday too :(

Your list is great!  I would also add a crib sheet (ours provides some but I wanted him to be on one that we provide since I will know its history).  I also noticed that some babies had mobiles on their cribs and so I bought an extra one for DS when he goes to daycare.

    Good luck!

It took over four years to be diagnosed with PCOS. We TTC #1 for 18 months, did 5 rounds of Clomid and finally moved onto IVF...which worked! Throughout our IF journey, we suffered 3 miscarriages. We conceived both DD and DS without treatment.

  • Our daycare gave us a list of things to bring:

    2 crib sheets

2 blankets - one light one heavy

    3 changes of clothes

Sweater or jacket to leave there

    5 bibs

diapers (6-8 per day) and wipes (we brought a big costco box of wipes for them to store there and a gigantic thing of diapers.)

bottles (4 4oz). I plan on nursing her at lunch.  Our daycare does not freeze them.

Our first day at daycare is Monday too.  Sucks... doesn't it? :(
