36 week appointment

My doctor checked me yesterday ( which was awful by the way) and said that I am still high and closed but starting to soften. Baby's head is down. She said it is still likely that I will go into labor on my own and that it's normal to be at this point with a first pregnancy. I'm not worried at all, just curious if anyone else was similar and what ended up happening. I know everyone is different and things can change with that pretty quickly, I just thought I would ask!

I am just past 36w and my doctor said the same thing. She just said it was softening up. Baby girl has been measuring ahead, tho, and i have excess amniotic fluid so I have to get tested weekly but all the tests have been good. I go again thursday.

Good luck! I hope my girl comes naturally on her own as well ^_^

I had zero progress until I went into labor.

Cervical checks tell you absolutely nothing!  You can walk around at several cm for weeks or go from zero to baby in hours.

Honestly, if it was painful - decline it!  I don't do them at all…because they really do tell you nothing!

My midwife won't do them until I'm in active labor.  Like the other ladies said, they tell you nothing and they aren't comfortable...also increase your risk of infection.

@TheMrs820‌ it was painful to get done and then I was really crampy with Braxton hicks and cervical pain all night. It did finally ease up after a Tylenol and a warm bath and had gone away by the next morning. From what I understand it doesn't happen to everyone but it sure was uncomfortable for me. I'm thinking next time I'll decline it, there's just that little part of me that's dying to know if anything is happening!
