The feeling of "holy cow, babies can come ANY TIME AT ALL and there's no predicting it" is kind of intense (unless you're doing a c-section I suppose). That part aside, I find stories of babies being born on the way to the hospital kind of encouraging because I want minimal interventions and no pain meds. I'm having the baby at the hospital because I'm a worrier and feel like if I tried a home birth the house would be hit by an asteroid or something, but for me it's good to see stories where babies are born all of a sudden and everything is fine.
I agree @sisterjanet... For me what is worrisome is the uncertainty of when to do what. I'm hoping that when the moment comes, instinct will tell me and DH what to do!
I'm glad everything turned out ok and everyone is fine. Definitely a good reminder to listen to our own bodies and instincts and that the doctor is human too.
Maybe I'm strange, but having my baby in my own car is creepy!! : ) Not trying to debate the hospital/non-hospital birth issue. Just thinking about trying to give birth in my little car on my commute into/out of work is not the most pleasant thought. It's more the uncertainty and afraid that I would be alone that freaks me out!
