So relieved

FTM (and pretty new to these boards -- why didn't I discover y'all sooner?). I've been worrying the last few weeks because LO has been hanging out transverse and seemed waaay too happy to move from that position. My OB had told me if she hadn't moved into head down position on her own by my 36 week appt, we'd have to do an external version or just go ahead and schedule a c-section. I have awful reactions to any kind of anesthesia, so that plus indiscriminate Googling had me all in a panic.

Well, today was my 36 week appt and she has finally moved, and her head is partially engaged!!!!! I'm so relieved. It's actually given me renewed patience for all the discomforts of this final month. Just had to share!

  • Yay good for you. Mine has been hanging out transverse for a while. I need to have a csection for other reasons anyways but I am curious to find out if LO is gonna shift head down before birth!

  • my babe is transverse too ( almost 36weeks) - did you try any methods to help baby engage????
  • @Abbywyss‌, I wish I had some useful advice for you. I tried nudging her with my hands when she was at her most active, as well as spending some time inverted/hips above my heart. It seemed like I was able get her to hang out on a diagonal with her head near one of my hips by doing those things, but no further. I'm pretty sure none of what I tried actually worked to get her head down tho. I've no idea exactly when it happened, and actually had thought going into my appt today that she was back fully tranverse again.

Wishing you good luck and hoping your LO finds her way head down soon!
  • Also, thanks everybody for sharing in my relief/excitement. :)
  • yay, congrats! My baby moved head-down at 34 weeks so I know the feeling of relief!
