How does this work? Follistim followed by a low dose HCG before final trigger

Ok. So, I have done 6 days of Follistim. Went in this morning to have a sonogram which showed 15 follicles in each ovary. The biggest being 1.2 and he said they need to be at 1.8. He said they would look at my estridol levels from my bloodwork and call to schedule a sonogram in one to two days depending on those levels. In the mean time, I would continue the Follistim. So they call this afternoon after checking those levels and said that he wants me to do a low dose HCG (not the higher final dose I have on hand) tonight instead of the Follistim and then come in the morning for the sonogram. I know my follicles need to grow a bit more, so I was wondering why they may have changed this and went from doing another night of Follistim to a low dose HCG based on the estridol levels? Anyone have experience with this? I believe I will still use the final much higher dose of pregnyl later in the week, but go ahead with 200 pregnyl now. Input?
