Struggling to pick a name!

Hello Ladies! I am new to the name board, and I try to be active on the August 2014 board. I know we have quite a while to decide on a name yet, but the rate hubby and I are going at it feels like it is never going to happen!

I have a long list of names that I like, but hubby only likes a few off of the list and doesn't have any suggestions of his own.

I love Slavic sounding names, but we have a very German last name, so most of those names sound pretty crazy with our last name. We just feel like we either cant or haven't struck upon a boy name that we will fall in love with.

Right now our list consists of:

Velkan  - I got it from the movie Van Helsing, and we both really like this name, but we are nervous about it being way too weird for our family to deal with, and I feel like he will get called Falcon all the time; I like Falcon, but our last name starts with F and we are kind of trying to avoid alliteration.

Killian - I would definitely call him Killi. I find Killian to be okay, but the name I really like is the shortened version.

Hawthorne - We both like this name, as well as Thorne, but we are torn because our dream name for a girl is Briar. Is Thorne and Briar too cutesy/matchy for siblings, we are definitely very attached to Briar in case baby number two is a girl.

What do you ladies think, or do you have any suggestions for me? Sorry if I sound crazy in this post! We are very reluctant to share our name choices with people we know but I am at the point of really wanting some input from others. Thanks in advance!

I like Hawthorne the best of your options, but it does kind of blow Briar out of the water.  (Our son goes by Xander, which eliminated Willow for a girl.)  Killian is better than Velkan.

Briar is very pretty.

Killian/Cillian and Hawthorne are ehhh...and Velkan is HIDEOUS! Please remember that child is going to have to live with that name for the rest of its life.

Cillian/Killian and Hawthorne are both handsome choices.

These names are so outside my style in not even sure if my opinion is valid...if that makes sense. Like PP said, I would love to see the vetoed list too understand your style better. From your options, I guess I like Killian/Ciallian best. But I would never use it or suggest it to anyone else.

Lorcan is pretty amazing!  Hawthorne isn't too bad... Killian makes me want a beer.

I have a Kilian, so I am partial to that option. But I would never call him Killi, so it's difficult for me to vote for it. Velkan and Hawthorn are definitely nms.
I agree Thorn and Briar are way too matchy.
