Had or having an ECV? Come in!

So my baby is still frank breech
After quite some time which I get to hear about twice a week due to being high risk. So I am scheduled for an ECV on Tuesday early morning. I have literally done everything- EVERYthing (spinning babies, acupuncture, chiro) and this is my last effort for my dream of a natural birth. From the u/s's I know she has plenty of fluid, her cord is floating free, and she is stubborn I am a FTM though with an anterior placenta but my ob says because it is high and she isn't remotely engaged it should not present an additional issue. I know I will have two doctors turning, no drugs unless I'm contracting, and one doctor constantly monitoring me on u/s the entire time. I am still extremely nervous and would love to hear other people's experience (and yes I am prepared for pain)

I have not had this but you go girl! I like hearing that you have been trying so much & are willing to go for this. a friend of mine did have this done and I remember her explaining that it was quite uncomfortable (I'm not sure it worked) but I give anyone credit for trying! my mom believes some babies turn right before labor but I'm on my phone & can't see how many weeks you are so I'm not sure if that's something you can "wait" for esp being high risk. here's hoping the best for you!

I posted about this in May 14 since I just had one on Friday.  We sound very similar. Baby has been breech the whole time, I have an anterior placenta but its high, no engagement, and a good amount of amniotic fluid. I've tried the chiro, inversion, the cold bag of peas on his head, music with a lot of bass....

Friday did not go well, my baby is still breech. I did it with no drugs and it is PAINFUL, the doctor has to push on a lot of the nerves in your stomach to coax the baby. We got the baby to the transverse position and as the doctor started to push him head down, the baby kicked back and pushed himself back into a breech position.  His heartbeat skyrocketed to 180/190 and I ended up being monitored for 3 more hours while we waited for the heartbeat to come back down. 

I'm glad I attempted it but I've made peace with the fact that there's probably a reason he hasn't flipped.

I had one done with my first son.  It was unsuccessful, to which we later found out was due to a uterine septum.  Anyway, it was not that bad- it was uncomfortable and at times painful- depends on your pain tolerance.  It is definitely worth a shot to avoid a c/s.  They will monitor you, hook you up to an IV and all that fun stuff.  For me it was two doctors that attempted to turn in.  Good luck!!
Just remember once a c/s does not mean you are always a c/s- I have had two successful VBACs and a hopefully a third tomorrow!

I am nervous but also oddly calm
About it. I think I have finally accepted that what will be will be- she will either turn or not and either way as long as she is healthy it will be fantastic. I am oddly not worried about the pain- it is what it is and I will be listening to the turning part of my breech baby hypnosis track to keep me calm and focused since I have no meds either.
The only thing thing remaining is that tiny part of my paranoid mind that is worried about the worst happening due to stupid google searching but deep down I feel good about my decision to try it.

I had one with my first son at 37.5 weeks.  It was unsuccessful.  And quite painful, but only for about 30 seconds at a time, and they only attempted a few times.  It was really nothing when compared to the labor/recovery that we all experience just a few weeks later, anyway, so it's worth a try in my book:)  He did flip a few days later after the chiro, though, so I would encourage you to continue with that if you're able! I posted in May 14 as well, but I had an ECV last week and I wish I would I have been more prepared for the discomfort/pain. It was really difficult for me to relax while they were attempting the manipulations which I feel kind of hindered the process because I was so tense. But it sounds like you have prepared yourself really well! Also, I don't know what your OB requires, but I had to not eat or drink anything prior to the procedure in case an emergency c section was needed. If you have the option to eat or drink prior to your ECV I would recommend NOT doing it. The manipulations were nauseating in addition to being painful and I'm sure I would have thrown up if I had anything in my stomach. My ECV wasn't successful, but I'm still really glad I tried it! I'm getting an epidural on Thursday and they will try another ECV - if the baby flips I will be induced right away, if not I'll have a c section right away. So even if your version doesn't work, maybe that would be an option for you and you could have another chance at a vaginal birth. Good luck tomorrow and I hope your baby flips for you!
