So I just realized that this name might be pronounced ay-sa and not ass-a. Behind the name confirmed that and then I fell in love with it. But then I noticed that it is a masculine name and all along I thought it was feminine. Is it really only for the boys? Which do you prefer it on?

I don't like it for exactly the reason of the possibility of the ass-a mispronunciation for those unfamiliar. Hopefully they'd correct themselves, realizing its ay-sa before saying it aloud. But ass-a potentially being the first thought is enough to kill it for me

Ace-uh.  Boy name.  Awesome boy name at that.  Just because it ends in -a doesn't mean it's a girl's name.  Not all languages are the same...

I did think it was pronounced ass-uh and hated it so I never really thought about if it was boy or girl.

And yes, I realize that not all languages are the same but I didn't know it was Hebrew. I knew nothing about it before I made my assumption/first impression. I stand corrected and will never use this for a future DD. It is just a bit hard to get over first impressions.

Ace-uh, all boy, love it. A friend of my sister is saying an Asa. He's about 25... Only one I've known in real life.

Yes it's only a boys name, a great one at that.

A lot of Hebrew boy names end in "a" or "ah" and it bugs me when people say, "Oh, they must be feminine" or "they sound too feminine." Yes, Asa is all boy.
Some celebrity recently named their baby girl Asa and I cringed.

The possibility of an "assuh" mispronunciation never even occurred to me, with the single "s." Yikes.

Aspirin only has one "s" but starts with "ass"...I'm not a fan for a boy or a girl.
