Cloth Diapering

Buying everything

So I think I am finally content with my newborn diaper stash (I won't bore you with numbers). Now I have to stop myself from buying more! I am automatically drawn to newborn diapers and she will probably outgrow them within a few months. I also don't have much storage for OS diapers at the moment, so I have to stay strong and not but all the diapers!

You totally need transition diapers! Best bottoms make great transitionals too bc they snap down pretty small so they fit sooner than most OS dipes.

Transitionals are for when your nb stash is too small but your OS are too big. Happens sometimes, like if you have a long skinny baby, or if baby outgrows the absorbency of nb before they outgrow the actual size.

Thirsties are great for this, because instead of nb and OS, they have size 1 and size 2, both that have 3 rise settings. Most systems have a nb and a OS with 3 settings, so 4 sizes total, while thirsties has 6. (They are not the only two size system like this, but one of the most well known). The other rise settings on the size one are great for just out of nb, but without the bulk of a OS.

  • You def need transitionals! I didn't know about these and had like 6 diapers that actually fit for a couple weeks. Also, LO will be in OS before you know it. I bought very few OS diapers and then all of a sudden I needed to buy a ton at once...which I did...then of course I hated what I bought a ton of.

  • I have quite a few OS, I definitely need more. I never thought about transitional, so I'm glad I posted this. Now I can buy more and DH can't complain...much!

  • You didn't ask, but I'm in a sharing mood so you get an "answer" anyway. Our fav transitional diapers:

AppleCheeks size 1 pockets (the 2 ply bamboo inserts make awesome OS pocket stuffers and doublers later)

Thirsties Duo and Best Bottoms as mentioned above.

SoftBums Omni/Echo -the aplix is awesome and the way you adjust the size allows you to get the legs itty bitty.

  • @CLLDLL‌ I actually just got 2 size 1 apple cheeks and a size 2 (which is huge, but I wanted it). I also have a soft bums omni, which I needed for the nebula print. So I guess I do have some transitional sand just had no idea. I'm such a newb!

Blueberry Newborn Simplex were my transition diapers.  Technically a newborn diaper, but they fit much much longer than my other newborn diapers did.

  • If you prefer pockets, kawaii P&Ns are a great choice
