Washing machine advice, pls.

We plan on moving by the end of this year. Baby is due in July. We have an old stacked washer and dryer unit that we spent $400 repairing recently and now it needs another $200 part. The space we have requires stacked washer and dryer or a single unit. Should we fork over another $200 and hope it holds up for cloth diapers or buy a new set we can take with us to new house? I don't really want a HE stacked set long term bc of the cloth diapers.

I'm assuming you don't know what kind of laundry space you will have in the new place, so all you can do is deal with what you have now. Because in the meantime, you need to be able to do laundry. Personally I think it would be cheaper to repair rather than buy new, but you would have to research that.

What if your new place doesn't have the height to accommodate a stacked unit? You would have to do side by side and might end up having to buy something new anyway. You never know what 

2 out of 3 places that we've bought (we move a lot) have included W/D in the sale. And in two of those situations the previous machines would not have fit in the new place's utility space, so there would have been no point in bringing them along. So we only had one move where we needed to buy a new set, and we ended up bringing those back to our permanent home when we left that place.

I would repair since you won't know what your new laundry space will be like. And if you have a gas dryer it might be really hard to find a stack-able pair that fits in your space. Small stack sets with electric dryers are easy to find, but for some reason ones with gas dryers are all insanely huge.

I've had a stacked HE set for 8 years and have been a CD-mama for over 2 years (though our diaper days are numbered). I've never had major issues with diaper laundry.
