We are thinking about getting a bassinet to put in our room for the baby to sleep in when she first arrives. There are so many to chose from!!! Any suggestions or recommendations?!? Help :-)
We are planning on trying a rock and play. It is bed height and doesn't take up much room. Plus they are only like $50... A lot cheaper than most bassinets I have seen.
Thanks ladies! We thought about that too... The only problem is that our bed is extra high (has drawers built in to the base)... Plus I can see my cat trying to peek in on the baby if it's open and lower like a rock and play. We kind of "need" a bassinet style... Just no idea which one :-(
We have an arms reach co sleeper, it is higher then a rock and play and attaches to the bed. You can also get risers to make it higher. I found mine nearly brand new on Craigslist for half the price of a new one. FTM so we've never used it but have has friends that recommend them.
We bought our bassinet from Pottery Barn Kids, it was spendy, but we had received gift cards at our shower. I love it, the basket detaches from the base so I can take it to different rooms if I need too. Plus, it has a shelf underneath so we can store extra diapers, etc.
Our bed is set higher as well and this bassinet definitely sits at bed height for us.
We already had a regular rock 'n play from DD1, but we also bought a rock 'n play bassinet for DD2. It's cheaper than most bassinets, very lightweight and folds up. We have only used it for a few days but I like it.

Ditto and I'll add that the the rock n play bassinet is higher and larger than the regular rock n play.
We were going to go with a bassinet from Restoration Hardware (same price I believe as Pottery Barn but we liked the style better). However, we got a pack n' play and rock n' play at our shower so we felt that a $300 bassinet was no longer necessary.
I got a bassinet for my room for $50 at BRU (it was half off) and a RNP for the downstairs for like $35? We just got home yesterday and have been using RNP with great success. Haven't rely tried the bassinet but my other kids did well in them.
I bought mine on Amazon for $55 and I love it! It's called dream on me, I think... it converts into a cradle AND also detaches and becomes like a Moses basket. We used the pack n play with DD1, but it was so big we went with this this time. My hesitation with the rock n play is the incline. I know too many people that had a tough transition to the crib from the rock n play. Can't wait to use my bassinet!
We have this one. Beb slept in the incline sleeper for about 2 months and then flat on the mattress for a month and a half before moving to her crib. No complaints.
I bought a cheap basic white bassinet from Walmart. No vibrations, music, rocker, or anything else. Just an enclosed safe flat sleep space. It's nice-looking and sturdy and was easy to assemble. I paid $31 on sale around Christmas.
We got a PnP with a newborn napper and a changing station. I like it because it is bed height and I can set it up right next to me. FTM so I haven't used it yet, but I think it will wok well.
We've been using the R&P bassinet since we came home a few days ago. I think that unless you get an attached cosleeper, you will be reaching for your baby regardless off bed height. And truthfully about the cat is that you shouldn't be letting it near the baby without close supervision regardless so that would include nights/naps as well
Using the PnP. It has a net insert that lifts the mattress much higher than the base of the unit. Originally I was going to use the newborn best that came with it, but when we assembled it it was very plush and padded and seemed...SIDSy. It was also curved and I wanted him to sleep on a flat crib-like surface. So he's sleeping on the regular PNP mattress now in the elevated position.
I have the Arm's Reach Mini Co-sleeper and love it. I got the extra leg attachments on Amazon to make it the same height as our bed.
glad to hear this! i got this also, because we have limited space. i've taken it out to open it and i'm really happy with the quality of it. just hope baby actually likes it!
i also have a rock-n-play in case he hates it and prefers that.
pretty much registered for all the sleeping contraptions, i figure something will have to work!

This is what we have also. We used it with DS. He slept fine in it, I love how mobile it is and that I can store diapers and supplies underneath it, and added bonus - I love the way it looks.

This worked great for us with DS1. Since we moved to a 2 story home I'll have a bassinet upstairs and probably the rock and play downstairs.
We ended up getting the Simmons, paisley park gliding bassinet. Haven't used it yet but I chose it because it has wheels, storage underneath, is the right height for our tall bed and glides easily when I barely touch it.
I came back to report at promised. I dislike the one I reported we bought earlier. It's just too tall even on the lowest height and closed in/claustrophobic for my likes.
We've since tried several and are going with the RockNPlay bassinet. It's as tall as the bed (the sides on the RNP are at the mattress) and is so portable.
Sorry for any typos - I'm on mobile & snuggling my new LO!

I went ahead and spent an extra $15 on a nice 2-inch mattress from Amazon as well.
