Question...re: crying

Noah goes to bed no problems...

But, when he wakes up in the morning, he SCREAMS his head off...even if he wakes up after a full 12-hour night sleep.

In order not to want to shoot myself right when I wake up b/c I hear screaming in my groggy state, how do I teach him to wake up happy?

TIA.

Re: Question...re: crying

  • Does he have toys in his bed?  DD will entertain herself for a few minutes in the mornings and that seems to help.
  • Loading the player...
  • Yup...one toy (Leap frog that plays music and "talks" to him when he hits certain parts on his body) and a mobile. I can't put much more in there b/c he's a big boy and maxed out in his crib (but I don't want to change him to a "big boy bed" until I absolutely have to). Should I just let him CIO in the morning?
  • DD used to cry in the mornings, too. We moved her into a "big girl bed" and the crying has stopped for the most part. She has her toys and will entertain herself for a few minutes before she starts calling out for me ("Manee... Manee..."). If I don't answer her immediately she can get pretty testy. For the most part, though, the crying stopped when the crib became a toddler bed...
  • I think some kids just are like that.  L always screams.  She doesn't even call for us.  H babbles and plays.

  • Noah used to babble and play...not anymore :( It just sucks to hear the screaming b/f even a sip of coffee!
  • Miss you Mrs.Corbin...DS looks like your DH! Noah misses Lily!
  • My DD is the same way.  She has toys and she plays with them but she just starts screaming and crying all of a sudden for some reason.  Some days she's really worked up and it takes awhile for her to settle down.  It is frustrating, but I don't know how to change it.  My DS wasn't like that at all!  I'm hoping it passes eventually.
