Carpal tunnel

Is anyone else experiencing numbness in the fingers and swollen hand/wrist ? It getting hard for me to grip things even. I know it's common but many people don't get it .

Re: Carpal tunnel

  • Yup have had it on and off for a bit now.

Just getting worse. Someday a I wake up to pins and needles both hands or numb. I wear a brace if I remember.

Even driving now depending on how I move my hand will trigger pins and needles. At school now too it comes and goes. I'm trying to wear the brace more.

  • I've gotten it with both my pregnancies now. Thank god it only happens towards the end because I work as a hairdresser and putting foils in while your hands are numb really sucks. I hope it's not a preview of the future though since carpal tunnel is common in hairdressers.
  • Yea..night time for me too.  Ive been wearing wrist guards that have helped a lot, but still not perfect.  I wake up and my hands are swollen and I can hardly move them or use them for awhile.  I suggest the wrist guards for sure!

  • Yes, it's awful. I wear a wrist brace at night (and most of the day) and that helps a lot. I forgot it the other night and woke up in such pain at 3am that I got out of bed to find it. I just got an inexpensive one at the drug store.
  • Mine comes and goes. It is the Relaxin hormone relaxing things it doesn't need to, LOL.

  • Yes. Check the daily symptoms thread, it's common and many people DO get it. It should go away.

  • Yup, you're definitely not alone girl! 6-9 more weeks to go! What PPs said.
  • I had it with my first. It lasted for a while after he was born too. But eventually it did go away.
  • I have had it for the past 5 weeks. It started at night and I would wake up in pain. I bought wrist guards and had to wear them all day every day. As of this week I've been able to not wear them during the day but definitely wear them at night because even with them my hands fall asleep. I keep telling myself only 7 more weeks.
  • Yep. Sleep with a brace on your wrists. If you work at a computer, adjust your chair or keyboard. Maybe give up typing for a while. That should all help.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • Yep and it is AWFUL! the pharmacist at CVS actually told me it's not carpal tunnel what I have here is a pic of the sticky w the name of it in case anyone wants to look if up. Pain in thumbs/wrists mainly with swelling. At night it's the WORST everything goes stiff bad hurts like hell to bend my fingers and can't grip anything or use sissors etc :/
