Always stuffy! Vent.

LO has been stuffed up for weeks now. It's annoying both of us. I feel like she can't nurse as easily as she'd like and lying flat in the crib just makes her more stuffy so we have been using the RnP. I want her to her used to the crib though. Saline drops and a humidifier help a bit but only for so long.
Argh. We see her doc next week and I'm hoping he'll tell me it will go away soon.
Anyone else dealing with this?

Re: Always stuffy! Vent.

  • YES. We have a small bathroom, do it's easy to create a sauna by shutting the doors and turning the hot shower on. I bring her in the steam room for 7 minutes, THEN use saline in the steam room. This usually makes her sneeze so I can use the snot bulb.

Then when I take her out of the steam room, the cold air usually makes her sneeze again, so I can suck it out again.

    I do this 2-3 x per day.

  • My little guy just got stuffy/congested again a few days ago. He sounds like a mucousy newborn (at 6 weeks old).

I try to keep him upright as much as possible (which means I'm holding him). I've also noticed that letting him cry for a bit will help to clear him up.

I can put him to bed sounding clear, then over the next 3-4 hours I can hear him getting congested again. Usually by 4-5 hours he is awake because its so bad. At that time I feed him then let him sleep on my chest the rest of the night.

There is nothing in his nasal passage to suck out, it's all in the throat.

  • Yeah. LO loves it when I take showers. Unfortunately I have to take quick ones because of DD!
