Stabby pains and pgal brain

I'm 16 weeks and I just started having these sharp stabby pains in my vagina. I emailed my ob office and they said it could be round ligament pain and to rest and stay hydrated and keep an eye out for cramping or bleeding. I'm pretty freaked out by it:(

At my MW appointment this week she told me that I might start to get that. I've already gotten sharp pains in my abs, which she said was round ligament pain. She explained that the round ligaments are attached to the vagina, and that I could feel sharp pains almost like a knife stabbing my vagina, and not to worry, this is normal! I said great! Sounds like what you have. FX that everything is ok!

You don't know how much better your responses are making me feel! Between that and my SIL telling me she is buying me whatever carseat I want, I'm very relieved! (Carseats have been my weird obsession lately)

@megaddie, I'm glad you feel a little better! Now this evening I've had a few stabby vag pains!! I have a cold with a bad cough so I'm assuming it's irritating my round ligaments!

agggh!  i think there was a bit of blood in the toilet:(  I don't know--I haven't seen any since, either in the bowl or on tp, but I now I am thoroughly petrified...I did strain a lot this morning with a bowel movement (thanks, Zofran!)...I am hoping if it was blood, that was why:(

On my BMB they were talking about a pain that sounded similar to what I was experiencing - they called it lightening crotch.  I'd heard the name before, but thought it was something that happened late in pregnancy.  Apparently it also can happen pretty darn early too, and that is ok (except that it feels like getting zapped in the vagina or cervix, that part is most definitely not so cool).  I did a ton of extra googling to re-assure myself that this definitely was normal in the earlier parts of pregnancy because it was a super scary sensation.  For me, I have found that it does happen more regularly on days where I'm very active, so I try to rest more if it starts happening.  GL and I hope that the pain is nothing to worry about!

Do you wipe before you pee? That might help to determine if there is any blood coming from the front. FX that all is well, and that your pain is just "lighting crotch!"

I wipe the back first, get new tp and then do the front. No new blood since--it wasn't drops, more like a chunk, i guess, but small and rust colored. The time I saw the blood, I had only peed. Earlier in the day, I had strained pretty heavily (I was having some side effects from Zofran )...hoping it was just some aftermath of that. I am going to contact my OB tomorrow.

If you take some tp and wipe from front to back before you pee, you can see if there is any spotting happening. Hopefully it was just from straining! Keep me posted.

Went to L & D and got checked out bc I could NOT relax about this. All is well. Saw the little guy wiggle and squirm a little, and the DR checked my cervix and everything was great. Not sure where the blood came from still, but trying to just let it go.
