I'm aware that I've mentioned this name before but we're dead set on using if it LO happens to be a girl. We love it, but every time someone asks and we tell them a girl will be "Lydia"....things get silent lol. We get "Say that again? : /" , "Hmm...like Beetlejuice?" & "Oh...that's old, huh?". No one has complimented it or even pretended to like it.
IS IT THAT TERRIBLE?!
Re: Lydia
My niece's best friend (age 15-ish) is named Lydia.
This is why I don't tell anyone anything. I have 2 friends that I run things by and that is it. Enough people will ruin something for you no matter what it might be because everyone has their own association with a name or an opinion based on their own experiences.

I really like Lydia. I know a few little Lydias and have always admired the name.
I do think that Breaking Bad might have tarnished the name a little for the general public (since that character was so frigid and heartless and the show was so popular) but overall I think people will forget about that now that the show is over.
My husband considers Lydia to be a "nursing home name". It was on my long list before and he gave me a major side eye. So it definitely is a little bit polarizing .
