Need advice - Communication with DH

He helps out a lot, he's wonderful. But! I have had it with him not washing his hands after a diaper change and then proceeding to fix a bottle!! I used to try and give subtle reminders to wash his hands, or I would even offer to fix the bottle or change the diaper - tag team! But he gets upset if I SAY ANYTHING and wants to help and do his part after he gets home from work. I really appreciate all that he does but am I supposed to just get over my Germophobe-ness? We've had a recent argument about me nagging about every little thing so I need help here.

  • I know it sucks to be a nag but making a bottle directly after changing a diaper - especially a dirty one - without washing hands first is just a bad idea. I think you'll have to talk to him, I wouldn't call you a germaphobe, this is pretty common sense. Good luck!

  • Yea... that's just common sense, particularly a poopy diaper.

  • I dont think you're wrong at all to remind him (over and over if necessary). Especially with dirty diapers, you want to wash your hands.... that doesnt make you a germiphobe, it makes you cautious IMO. Good luck OP.

  • Thanks everyone for all the responses, looks like I will have to express my concern in the least nag-like approach possible. And as far as using wipes for his hands, I cannot say for sure.
