More home stuff: Cleaning Edition

I want to get our new house cleaned thoroughly before we move in.  Also, the owners had a cat and I am allergic and want try to get as much of the of cat hair gone as possible.

There is only carpet on the 2nd floor and I plan to get that cleaned by a Stanley Steemer type company (probably them, actually).   The rest of the house is hardwood so shouldn't be too bad to clean.

I want a deep cleaning service for everything else - is there something that specializes in this over just a regular cleaning lady/company or do I just go the traditional cleaning lady route for that?

Try calling some maid services.  I used to work for a custom home builder and we would always have the home cleaned after construction.  Explain what you need done and should be able to give you a quote.  I would go with a service rather than just someone who knows someone.

Call any cleaning service. Ours does deep cleans as well as weekly cleans. I choose to use a service vs. someone who knows someone due to being bonded, etc.

I agree with @mnkate on the air ducts. DH is super allergic to cats and dogs (and earth, but that's a different story), and cleaning the air ducts in our new place made a big difference. We chose to scrub down the new house ourselves, but we had someone come in to clean our townhouse before we put it on the market (she is the regular cleaning lady for many of my friends). We debated getting a cleaning service, but I liked the fact that she worked regularly for multiple people I knew, and she did an AMAZING job. You could eat off the floor, it was so impeccably done. I would work off referrals before I would choose a service any day.

We've always just used a regular service (like Molly Maids) for deep cleaning. Just let them know what you expect to be done.

Thanks everyone.  I actually looked at Servicemaster which owns Molly Maids so it looks like I can get everything done through them - carpets, ducts, and scrubbing.   This will be a fun bucket o money to drop, but it's necessary.
