Siblings sharing a room?

Hey wise ladies! I'd like to pick your brains. We're moving to a new house this summer. There are two rooms upstairs and two rooms downstairs. Would we be crazy if we had the girls (DD1 2 yrs and DD2 2 months) share a room so that we're all on the same level (and so we have a guest room/office and a playroom downstairs)? Give me pros and cons if you don't mind!

Re: Siblings sharing a room?

  • I don't think it would be crazy at all.  I have two brothers (twins) who shared a room until they were maybe 4 or 5.  Especially if it's a matter of having everyone on the same floor, I think that would be totally fine as long as the girls won't keep each other awake - ex if Lucy isn't STTN and she wakes up during the night, will that wake Jane up?  If not, I think that would be fine.

  • We plan to have DD (2 yrs) and DS (due may 4th) share a room. We have two bedrooms upstairs and one in the basement, and while it's a nice, bright finished basement, I just don't want to have either of my kids on a different floor than me at this age.

Share a room.. hell I had to share a bed with two of my sisters ..youngest of 5 here.  I didn't get my own bed, or room till I was about 12-13..sharing a room won't hurt  at all .. and it sounds like a practical solution for your situation.

  • Thanks, we're really leaning towards sharing and it's nice to know I'm not crazy. I told my mom the other day and the only thing she's worried as out is Jane being too excited about sharing and trying to climb into Lucy's crib! (She can't, but she does really love her sister). I just don't want to be on a different level, especially since we're going to make the switch to a toddler bed for Jane soon. Even with gates on the stairs that would make me nervous! Plus, my selfish side is really excited to have a place to put my sewing machine so that I can actually sew occasionally!

  • We will be transitioning DD (almost 13 weeks old) into her brothers room once she is STTN.  Since we only have two bedrooms there isn't much of a choice, but I think they will have a blast sharing a room.
