Fertilizing lawn?

Usually we use Miracle Grow, but now that Logan will be playing out there, I want something non toxic. The only thing I can think of is Epsom salt. I could use steer manure, but I don't want to smell it for a week while pregnant and I don't want him rolling and crawling in it. Ideas?

Re: Fertilizing lawn?

  • Do you really have to fertilize it?

  • And in the garden we use a mix of feather meal, bone meal, and something else I can't remember right now. But I'm not sure how cost effective that would be in a large area

  • I don't have to, but I would like to. ;)

I think Epsom salt would work well. It's cheap and safe.

  • If you aren't already, you can mulch your clippings rather than collecting them.

You can also look at compost tea or worm castings. They're not as powerful as the manure you mentioned in your OP and I think they break down/dissipate quickly.
  • Check green living tips.com they have some advice of different organic fertilizer.
