Another poll: Righty or Lefty?

I think we discussed this when our babies were very young, but can anyone tell yet if LO is a righty or lefty? DD seems to use the right hand for many things, but she always eats/holds utensils in her left hand which has me wondering...

I'm right handed and my DH is left handed, so DS sees everything done with both hands. He uses them pretty equally and switches back and forth between them; I'm thinking its too early to really tell.

I'm right handed and dh is left handed. DD goes through phases of which had she will use. Right now it seems to be her right hand... But I think it is too early to tell. I think I had someone tell me you can't be completely sure until they are around 3

we're all righty's in both of our families....i think she uses her right hand more using utensils and crayons/markers, but she does use her left sometimes too....i'll have to pay more attention

DD seems to be right hand dominant. Im ambidextrous and Dh is right handed.

I am right handed and DH is left handed. DS seems to use both so I am not sure yet.

I'm right handed, DH is left handed. I think it is too early to tell what DD is yet but my uneducted guess is right handed.

Dd uses both for a lot of things but I've been noticing her favoring her right recently.
We're all right handed. My sister is a lefty but she's the only one in my family.

DH and I are both righty's and DD seems to favor her right hand when eating throwing etc... DS however does things with his left hand but seems ambidextrous

I think DD is starting to favor her left hand for things like coloring and picking things up. She'll hold utensils in her right, but she also hasn't quite gotten the hang of using those yet, so she's always just holding them in that hand but feeding herself with her left. She also only ever sucks her right thumb, so her left hand is always free.

Both DH and I are right-handed, but his sister is left-handed and we both have numerous other family members who are, so it wouldn't be that surprising if DD were too. My younger sister writes left-handed, but isn't actually left-handed. She always sat across the table from me when we were younger and learned to color/write by mirroring me. Because of that, I've been careful to always sit next to DD instead of across from her when we're doing things like that.

Under two years old is really too young to strongly prefer one hand over the other. I don't mean to sound like a Debbie-downer on this thread, but if you notice a preference in your child, take them to see a doctor immediately. This is one of the main signs of a stroke in babies/toddlers. My son hardly uses his left hand because of the stroke he had right after birth. Some perinatal stroke symptoms don't appear until between one and two years old, so please be on the look-out. The sooner you catch something like this, the better it can be treated.
